Saw these two great reviews on "A Shade Of Blue" Atmos and 5.1 Surround - it's such a lush jazz album - I've been listening on Spotify but now I gotta hear how it sounds on Atmos and 5.1 Surround. IAA has it available for download too.

Will probably opt for the UHD4K BD~V with Dolby Atmos/Stereo...... I am a huge FAN of all things EVOSOUND. Their track record is stunning!

Me too! Can't wait for the UHD4K blu ray of this release! They've got some videos up on youtube of the trio performing, but man this will be amazing to hear and watch in UHD4K

Where are folks seeing the UHD4K BD~V ?

I see Evosound has a SACD 5.1 multi-channel but I can't find any mention of an AMTOS version outside of the IAA download.

I'm listening to the IAA download. Is the piano mostly on the left side, bass center, drums to the right? Or something off with my setup/ears? It sounds great but not a choice that matches my personal preferences.

Yep, sounds the same for me. The Bob James Trio 5.1 & Atmos mixes have that same layout, unsurprisingly because they were mixed by the same engineer.

I agree it's a little odd at first to have the drums off to one side, but is there really a better way to make an immersive surround mix of a jazz trio? I think it'd be even stranger to have the drums spread across the front and then the piano playing the melody pushed entirely to the back, or vice versa.

It does take a little getting used to - but it's how they perform on stage so they've tried to replicate how it would sound if you were observing from the live audience.

I agree with you.
Jazz trios if not mixed separately can sound like big mono.
I’ll have to buy this from IAA and check it out.

Well, I've given up on the Blu Ray.

Looks like I'll have to decide between the 5.1 SACD or ATMOS MP4.
