Helpful Hint How to Fix Rear Channel Dropouts on Marantz Quadraphonic Equipment

I have two Marantz 4000 Quad Preamps and both had the same problem of loosing the audio signal to the Right Rear Channel. Checking all voltages on the transistors in the rear channel circuits were all good. Balance sliders worked fine, cleaned all front panel controls, still no fix. Finally I decided to attach an RC-4 Remote Control and it had the same problem. What fixed the problem was switching the Remote Local switch back and forth rapidly to clean the contacts, since there is no way to spray contact cleaner into the switch. So next time you loose a rear channel on your Marantz unit with a Remote Local Switch on the back of the unit, try this fix before you disconnect anything!
