indeed no mention of Atmos over USB...

so i hoped in a workaround...

You could extract one of the .m2ts files and give it a shot.

If you use makeMKV to do a folder backup, you can just copy out one of the .m2ts files

You really should state the makes/model numbers of your devices in your first post... It makes answering questions much easier!

Open makeMKV, then select the disc in the optical drive if it doesn't automatically see it.
On the top menu there is an icon for "folder backup" you can hold the mouse over the icons until you see the one for folder backup (I think that's what it's called, or just backup). Then it will extract both the BDMV and CERTIFICATE folders, decrypted. The .m2ts files will be in the BDMV/STREAM folder.

yes i have the backup folder that i made with makeMKV: in the STREAM folder there are 15 M2TS files...what next? thank you

Well refer to your earlier post where someone said they would work on your player.
I assume put them on the USB drive and see if they will play. I have no experience with your player, I have Oppo's.

My first attempt was an MKV file from the folder I made with makeMKV ripping my disc (the situation where the receiver would not see Atmos); now I understand I have to make a different MKV file moving M2TS files away(?) and that is the part confusing me

I honestly have no idea. I was under the impression that your player would play .m2ts files from usb. Have you tried that?
If the stream has both the lossless stream and the lossy DD+ stream then maybe it will play as - is without creating another mkv file.
You are sort of on your own here....I don't rip past .iso and I play .iso files directly off my pc.

Refer back to that thread you posted earlier and see what others have to say about your player and playing .m2ts files.

Let us know how it goes.
