So worked for me halfway blu-ray player detects all the audio streams but when sending 5.1 or 7.1 amplifier plays both of them as 5.1 in direct mode.

Tell us how you ‘send’ audio to your AVR, what is the source media. USB stick with a file? A member asked but you didn’t reply.

If you are playing an MKV file with Atmos stream the BD player may not recognise the stream as Atmos as the MKV stream does not contain the embedded AC3 (5.1) stream used for backward compatibility with old players.

Ripping from disc splits the AC3 stream out of the TrueHD Atmos stream. You need to merge them back into a new TrueHD+AC3 stream or use a media player and not a BD player to play MKV files

Could try playing the MKV file in VLC media player. Set in the options to bitstream, and as long as your connected from the pc to the AVR with an HDMI cable, The AVR should indicate what codec it's playing.
For some AVR's an indicator light will come on showing e.g. Atmos, DTS-HD, etc, and the remote for some AVR's have an information button to push that will show on the display, monitor/TV.

If playing an MKV file from a USB stick in the hardware player, as HomerJAU said, it may not be recognized as Atmos.

Need more information. On my AVR, playing Atmos or DTS-HD the unit will automatically decode; if I set it on Direct Mode it still decodes but bypasses the calibration settings.

Hi, in the meantime if I want to directly burn it to blu-ray , you suggest me to just copy the folders? The MKV file, or? Thanks

If you have the decrypted folders, you can use ImgBurn (free) to burn to a disc.

Looks like your player is sending pcm to the Denon. Have you got the player set to bitstream?

Are you using all HDMI cables between devices?

yes HDD from USB of the player, no issues with discs

So you can play either/or a folder or .iso file from the USB drive and it plays Atmos fine?

no , on the contrary , player outputs 7.1 from file from USB but receiver sees no Atmos

For testing purposes, in your Blu-ray players audio settings select 'bitstream' not 'Auto'. And under 'Secondary Audio' always select 'None'.

By the way... What's the make and model of your Blu-ray player?

It may be your player will not pass Atmos from USB input. Some won't.

That is, it see's TrueHD, and that's why you're getting 7.1 instead of the rest of the channels.

Well if you can play discs and get Atmos to your Denon then I'm thinking it just won't pass Atmos from the USB port except for the TrueHD 7.1.

Only solution I know is to connect a pc via HDMI to your Denon and use a software player such as VLC to play Atmos .mkv files.

...though somebody said "The Sony UBP-x800m2 can play Atmos from a USB drive as long as it is stored in a . m2ts container and the TrueHD track includes an AC3 core. IMPORTANT: the AC3 core must be on the same track (thd+ac3)", and someone else "Try .m2ts file instead of .mkv. Tested on my X800M2 and my AVR is showing atmos. Sony players seem like Panasonic in this regard."
so i hoped in a workaround...
