This is weird. I bought a new laptop and tried to use it to do some recording at a friend's house. I was trying to record 4 channels of 96/24 audio which, on my old laptop was a breeze. While recording everything was fine but then it all became distorted. The link below has a short 15-20 second clip as an example. It is only the front channels, but all four channels had the same problem.

I am using a Focusrite 2nd Gen 18i20 as my interface which worked beautifully with my old laptop. I also have a 3rd gen 18i20 which did the same thing in testing.

Any ideas?? Suggestions? Thank you!

While I do not have any direct experience with your eq, it does sound to me like one of your bit buckets is overflowing. Not a sync issue for sure, but it sounds like something can't keep up.
My 1st thought was a virus scanner or some such process in the way.
Have you verified your antivirus is disabled?

Whenever my Mac Mini starts making weird noises, especially white noise in the audio I go for the sure fire proven method of turning it off and then on again…always works with me…
