This album and the following one (marillion.com) are a bit weird, in that most of the songs feel very bland and generic, but simultaneously have two monumental epics that are not only some of Marillion's best tracks of all time but some of my favourite songs period (the title track on this one and Interior Lulu).

The follow-up was Radiation, not marillion.com.

Yes that event did happen. He was dying by a swarm of bees. The blue pain lyrics refer to, what h has described as, some type of medicine to relieve the stings. He said they were these little blue bags that you would put on the stings.

Yes! Almost as good as the Rotterdam concert from the AOS deluxe edition.

I enjoy it for what it is, though I can see how it must've disappointed fans when it came out. I think the majority of tracks have shown their quality live - Under the Sun and The Answering Machine are red hot on Smoke, Born to Run benefits from the live atmosphere on Mirrors, A Few Words for the Dead also has more intensity and I don't think I need to talk about how Three Minute Boy regularly goes down in concert (I had the pleasure to witness it myself).
