As excited as I am to have Wilson mixing the Floyd, I should probably temper my expectations a little bit on this one. If I recall correctly, I believe Pompei was recorded on 8-track. That doesn't give Steven a whole lot to work with. I am still optimistic that he will work some magic though.

After what he did with Jethro Tull's 'This Was,' I'm willing to give him the 'Benefit' of the doubt.

I think TFC is criminally under-rated. It is so over-shadowed by the string of albums from TDSOTM to The Wall that it's forgotten. I like most of the songs on the album and they would really be suited to Atmos or 5.1.

I wonder if Waters would have an easier time deciding to release it in Atmos without the blessing of Gilmour and Mason since most consider it a Waters' solo effort. I would think the politics aren't as heavy for that album.

Neither Guthrie nor Jackson have ever had anything to do with Pompeii audio previously as I understand it. Or did one of them do the DVD 5.1 mix?

I'm fairly certain that Guthrie was about the only engineer they could all agree on (Roger being the sticking point and I think Guthrie not doing Meddle 5.1 was why Roger had it pulled). With Sony owning the catalog they don't have that level of say.

Yeah, Steven has often been critical of post-Roger Floyd, so I'm doubtful that will happen.

I would think he could be talked into it. I've never seen him say outright hates it.

Something I'd love for SW to do (which I know would never happen) would be a more faithful surround remix of MLOR with all the original parts kept in.

Funny the local Floyd cadre (myself included) think the remaster sounds a lot more like classic Floyd and less thin and digital. So, my vote is the new version. Or both.

It's amazing how tastes differ. Some things I listen to and don't like but I can understand what people see in it. But Animals I listen to and there's nothing to like or dislike, it's just a total non entity and waste of space to me. Odd.

More info on SDE and it says SW remixed the extra songs CWTAE AND SOS in Atmos but they didn’t include them!! I smell a SDE exclusive edition coming out eventually.
