I am happy to say I have not had to live where it snows to much extent for decades.
Never intend to ever again. Never could adapt well to it and cold weather.

I keep reading that NJ has led the nation in migration out of state six years in a row. Well, it ain't enough. People, please get the @#$% out and give me some more space.

My wife is Colombian, from the coast (Barranquilla). Her first winter was when we went to graduate school in Urbana-Champaign, and what a brutal winter! She had never owned a winter coat. That was the year that the Chargers had a playoff game at the Bengals with real temperatures well below zero (-20’s IIRC?). In any event, she’s not happy unless it’s quite warm, and humidity doesn’t seem to phase her.

OTOH I was born and raised in Colorado, and I crave cold weather (not windy though) compared to hot and humid (central Illinois, ugh - hot and humid summers, frigid and dark winters, the worst of both worlds). I never minded when I had to travel frequently to the Minnesota boundary waters area to work on an experiment in a deep iron mine when the temperatures when I went to the head frame early in the morning were -20 to -30 F (but, very little lake effect snow there, just lots of black ice).

Somehow we are compatible.

I always say if it’s cold, I can always add layers. If it’s hot and humid, I run out of layers to remove.

and then arrested once you remove all of the layers.... unless you are fortunate enough for no one to see....
We like cold too. Most of our families are from Tennessee, Missouri and Texas. Yup...not fans of humid at all... Mom was born in Texas. Dad was born in Colorado.
