Luckily the couple of tracks I downmixed to stereo from the Atmos stream also read in two-digit DR numbers, so the mix is definitely a lot more dynamic.
Thank God for Steven Wilson, I was praying he wouldn't allow his mix to get squashed like the 2ch stuff that was ruined by demanding stuffed shirts.

Anyone else’s TFF blu-Ray still showing in Slough England! My tracking shows no difference from February 18 to now! USPS tracks the same way!
Time to listen to this then...
The tracks on Tidal that I skimmed through did not initially latch on to my ear.
I felt that way the first time I ever heard anything by TFF. And look how far I've come since then. ;)
the overall consensus for this album is rather lukewarm from reviews I’ve seen
The album is on its way to top several charts and the large majority of reviews have been very positive.

Don't hate me for this, I have had mine for a week now, still in the wrapper. To be honest I think the only reason I bought this disk was due to the limited run. I mean, I like the band, but I wouldn't run out to buy tickets if they decided to tour in support of it. The tracks on Tidal that I skimmed through did not initially latch on to my ear. There are a couple of listings on Discogs for a princely sum. I don't know...should I or should I not?

Before you decide, do yourself a favour and listen to tracks 2 and 3 at whatever your reference volume is. If you feel meh after that, sell it.
"Near Mint - Listened to once" isn't going to lose you more than a single point over a "still sealed" as far as optical discs go (ie - not vinyl)

This is a REALLY good surround mix.

I wasn’t particularly concerned. Remember, Steven Wilson’s mixes don’t generally get mastered per se. He masters in the mix, i.e. the final mix is the master.

You never know what some label might do afterward. But I would hope given his clout now that he would have it in his contract that his mixes can’t be messed with after final artist approval.

It’s here.

Very much enjoying the album and the surround mix. And it led to wonder about something we are unlikely to ever know: would SW have a surround mix preference? I suspect, while he has committed himself now to producing Atmos mixes, his heart will remain with 5.1, and that would be the mix he would prefer here, on this album. :)

What’s the rationale for limiting physical release to 2,000 copies?
Personally, I believe it’s just part of the music industry shifting to online streaming, especially for Atmos. Not surprising to me, it sold out in a day, so I believe they really blew it!

Hopefully I’ll finally get my copy today; and although I’m only set up for 5.1, this might be a good title for me to compare with the base 5.1 Atmos on Apple Spatial Audio. I haven’t liked a lot of the streaming Atmos music, for what I perceive as a thin crispy sound (bandwidth limitations?) for whatever reasons.
But, I also know a lot of folks here don’t seem to hear it the way I do 🤷‍♂️

I can certainly understand why consumers prefer the convenience and abundance of streaming. But, is a streaming release really more profitable for the industry than a physical release - at least in the case where they already made the investment in a physical disc? Did they just underestimate interest, or was there some other reason for the small quantity... expecting that it might drive people to streaming just doesn‘t quite make sense to me.

I think it’s more like SDE is a very small operation and can only handle a certain amount of copies to sell at a time. Look how long it has taken to process and ship just on this one title alone.
I didn’t realize that. I can accept that. 😁

I would like to receive either a shipping notice or a credit card refund for my "glitch order" very soon. I am getting a little bit impatient...
We were expecting news on the glitch orders this week and some of the CD SDEs were actually shipped on Tuesday IIRC.
Sadly, seems like it's another week without progress on the glitch blurays- they were still shipping day 1 orders as late as Wednesday and last news from Anne was to wait till they finish that first.
