Hong Kong Universal Music has just released The Cure's "Greatest Hits" on hybrid stereo SACD. Also being released on hybrid stereo SACD is Julia Fordham's "Swept" and the compilation album "Ultimate Nat King Cole"....

As with western music SACDs from Hong Kong Universal Music, they are only available for sale in Hong Kong and Macau....officially. Unofficially, these 3 titles are available already on some etailers' websites.

These SACD titles are now available for pre-order at importcds.com

Print ad released by Hong Kong Universal Music last night for these new SACD titles....

Interested in The Cure and Julia Fordham but considering the so-so sound on some of the past releases I’ll wait for a couple of reviews before buying.

For the most part, I have been thrilled with the UMG Hong Kong Stereo SACDs .... I play them DSD out into my ALL analogue P7 pre~amp with NO EQ and to my ears they sound just fine!

I do find the BEST prices are from ImportCD ...... a lot of other vendors are charging $40. If you wait a couple of weeks, ImportCD usually prices them below $29 and I did buy the last batch when ImportCD had one of their rare 10% off sales!

I’m thinking mainly of the Cranberries one which, though I admittedly haven’t heard, received enough negative reviews that I backed off. There was another (Tears For Fears?, not sure) that was similar.
I have 5, Gary Moore and Enigma are fine.
Diana Krall’s Turn Up the Quiet is OK. Her Wildflower and the Notting Hill Soundtrack were meh IMO.
Tempted by Lenny, Human League and Culture Club. Maybe Diana Ross too

These are all very likely (as with past HK masters) *exactly* the same mastering and exactly the same digital sources as cheapo existing CD releases.
