Released in June 1973, Whatever Turns You On was the second, and final, studio album from the quasi-supergroup that featured Leslie West and Corky Laing (from Mountain) along with Jack Bruce, formely of Cream. The group would break up shortly after the release of this album, with the live document Live 'n' Kickin' following their demise in 1974. West went on to reform Mountain in mid-1973 with Felix Pappalardi, recording the double-LP live album Twin Peaks, and then the 1974 studio album Avalanche (which saw the return of Laing on drums) both of which were also released in quad.
