This will be useful for any Kodi users running on a Linux based device (LibreElec, CoreElec etc) that need to access the hidden Kodi folders on the devices to:
  • Copy Media files onto the internal storage drive (The 500GB NVME SSD drive on QQ NUCs)
  • Update the LibbreElec (and Kodi) version (or CoreElec on a CoreElec AMLogic device)
  • Customise skins etc.
  • Customise Menu Nodes
  • Update Artist Fanart, logs etc manually
  • Copy System backups etc
QQ NUCs are using LibreELec 12 (with Kodi 21.2) (Linux based)

In recent versions of LibreElec (and CoreElec), access to internal device storage is pre-configured to use SMB network protocol, this is standard for Windows PCs

In Windows File Explorer (on Windows) folder bar, enter your Kodi Linux device's IP address:

HINT: You can get the devices IP address from the Kodi 'System' menu's, 'System Info' option dialogue

In Windows File Explorer just enter the Media Players' IP Address in this format:

\\[IP Address] the hit [Enter]

Example:
WindowsExploerToLinux.png

In very recent Windows version Windows will ask for a user name and password
The defaults are:
libreelec
libreelec

In older versions of Windows, the File Explorer will display the contents of the Storage folder on you device:
LE Storage Folders.png

These folders should not be tampered with unless you have been given specific instructions, so you are an experienced Kodi users and you know what you are doing.

The folder you will use at same stage are:
Update - You copy LE/Kodi update files into this folder
Artist Information - this is the Artist Information folder that holds fanart, logos etc, you are free to add, remove update any of those files
Music - This is a pre-configured Music Source folder, allowing users to copy album folder and using them after a SCAN into the library
Backup - when you backup or restore Kodi configurations this the the default location for those files
Screenshots - All screen shots you take with your remote control will be found here
Userdata - holds all the config and data related to YOUR Kodi system. This is unique to YOUR device, althou for QQ Nucheads EVERYONE has exactly same on shipment, but as you load media, change UI settings each system becomes unique.

More on this later.

I will post instructions on how to update LE/Kodi when that's needed in the future.
