I started threads like this for 1972, 1973 and (very belatedly!) 1974. I'll kick this one off with my own highly selective list of albums that turn 50 in 2025. I'm sure there are plenty of titles I've overlooked, so...Discuss. I'll make additions and corrections for as long as I can edit this post. (Fair warning: I've salted my starter pack with a whole bunch of notable jazz releases from 1975, if only to counterbalance all the hard rock/classic rock titles, which--don't hate me--I mostly don't dig.) [Edit after 12 hours or so: I've padded the original 100 or so with 20 or 30 more.]

Oh--also: 1975 was sort of the beginning of the end for quad, right? Maybe one of you statisticians out there can
  1. Cull my list for albums that had a quad release;
  2. Calculate the percentage of (1) that were eventually re-released in a modern, higher-res format; and
  3. Do a shortlist of (1) and/or (2) (and/or 0, for that matter) that have (also?) had a 5.1 and/or Atmos "upgrade," in either physical or streaming form.

John Lennon's Imagine was released in 1971, not 1975. The confusion may stem from the album's title track not being released as a single in England until 1975.

I would nominate Mike Oldfield's Ommadawn to take its place.

Great list! Took me some time to find that this one wasn't on it:

Tomita: Pictures at an Exhibition
Corrected/added--thanks!

Some other favorites of mine that didn't make the list:

Supertramp - Crisis? What Crisis?
The Tubes - The Tubes
Frank Zappa - One Size Fits All
Frank Zappa - Bongo Fury

....and then there's Tina Turner's Acid Queen. Check out her version of "Whole Lotta Love". It'll change your life.

Thanks! Added. (With a big Amen! to Tina, who has definitely sent us all back for some schoolin'.)

Van der Graaf Generator - Godbluff

It’s on my top 10 of 1975.
Added; thanks. (You also indirectly reminded me to add Gentle Giant's Free Hand. I admire VDGG's instrumental prowess, but Peter Hammill is one of those singers whose vocal stylings I just can't abide, no matter how much I try. That's totally on me, though--god knows there are plenty of other love-em-or-hate-em voices I've got absolutely no problem with.)

Should be on the list- Pavlov's Dog Pampered Menial- a masterpiece of an album from 75. Seriously, I dig David Surkamp's vocals. Of Once And Future Kings in Dolby Atmos would be magnificent
