F**K. NO, Atrocity ...it was pretty Blatant as if kids today never heard the word on a regular basis in this day and age!

The NETWORKS need to lighten up!
The reason I asked is that I've never found any reference to it online. I was in the habit of recording the audio for SNL performances at the time (and for several years after) and even I didn't catch it at first. One day I was playing back the tape and suddenly had a "Wait...did he..?" moment. Rewound it and it was plain as day.

As a professional infant, I actually have a mental list of musical acts that managed to slip it past the censors. Aside from the Stones, there's also the Beastie Boys and R.E.M.

The B-52's slipped in a BS, though I saw that rerun several years back and was disappointed to see that NBC caught it. They garbled the audio and blurred Fred's lips.

I also noticed that NETFLIX has the annoying habit of bleeping out profanity when showing trailer clips of their offerings which of course are reinstated when you view the actual production!

Plain WEIRD...and IMO, more than a bit HYPERCRITICAL!

That's understandable if their intent for the clips are to be played anywhere, not just where young adults and older might see them.

There's legitimate reasons to not drown the youth in profanity and adult themed content. They have plenty of time to develop their potty mouths and stupid ideas.

Thought I'd just mention I was 'watching' the SNL 50th thing last night on NBC( actually only fast forwarding thru it while being buffered) for the musical performances.
I heard McCartney was going to be there so I wanted to see that. I figured it would be some sort of an acoustic set......
Well it turned out he was the very last performer & had his full group with him.
Surprisingly, he did the last section of the Abbey Road lp side 2 suite. Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight & The End... They were all done live, with no lip sync, no auto-tune, etc... There was even a brass section there!
Wow, what a great performance!....brought goosebumps and tears to my eyes....😅
Did any one else see this & what did you think?

PS. Imho , for me this was the highlight of the show that was mostly garbage😫

I've mentioned for years that the SNL musical performances sounded like dog crap on my 5.1 system for some reason; but seems to be improved this year. Will be catching this tonight. Looking forward to Pedro Pascal, Woody Harrelson, Kate McKinnon, Meryl Streep as abductees :alien:

SPOILER ALERT below!

My opinion on Sir Paul last night, he’s done.
Let that be his last show.

As much as I've always loved Sir Paul I'm afraid Markie is right. He can no longer Carry That Weight. On a 120" projection screen and my state off the art sound system I was actually wincing at his performance.

Ditto for Paul Simon, another musical genius ....... Had it not been for vocal support from Sabrina Carpenter, I'm afraid both he and the cute Beatle have seen better days!

Hey, I'm up there too in age and it's painful to see icons struggle at was once second nature to their incredible and indelible talents!

It didnt take any state of the art system to make people wince. Ian Anderson probably felt good about it all thinking, "im not that bad"

I also saw Sir Elton John perform recently on one of the talk shows and unfortunately, he too has seen better days. Admire their bravura in continuing to perform but when you can no longer hit the notes time to let bygones..... be BYGONES!

My dad said that Sinatra was a dud when he saw him in the 1980's. When is the performance expiration date on these idols?
And yet Sinatra's favorite male singer, Tony Bennett, performed well into his nineties ... with an encouraging vocal assist from Lady Ga Ga and made a successful comeback! Sure he couldn't hit those high notes but you had to admire his chutzpah!

His voice did faltered a bit in the opening. Watched it again & still think that overall it was an excellent performance. I wasn't making a critical analysis, as such, in an absolute sense... Just in a casual way.
The guy's 83 years old. ...maybe give him just a little bit of grace there Markie..?
I'm wondering, what we are going to be like at that age?🤔.....🌷

No grace, just being a bad boy on the internet, , if he died I would cry, that's good enough for now.

I saw Paul McCartney in 1989/90 and loved it. Just to see a Beatle was all that mattered. I heard an interview from the 80s with one of the girls who was screaming on the Ed Sullivan show. She was asked, you can't hear with all that noise, what was the point? She answered that she just wanted to be in the same room, breathing the same air as The Beatles. My daughter finally got to see Sir Paul in London just before last Christmas. She knew his voice was shaky. She didn't care. She was just happy to be in the same room as a real live Beatle. So I hope Sir Paul continues for as long as he wants to - he will be making more people happy than he is disappointing.

(Also, I would much, much rather hear him wobble and croak though his tunes than hear him use auto-tune. )
