I recall Who's Farewell in the early 80's. There's a new album from them a couple years ago. Then, there were concerts of Who I swear I attended after they broke up. Must have been dreaming...Um, is this their first farewell tour? You remember...like The Who's first farewell tour.
To be followed later on down the road by the Aerosmith Hell Freezes Over Tour. The rock star lifestyle isn’t cheap.
I think the Queen of Farewell Tours has to be Cher who I think it was her 5th farewell tour we saw in Stockholm.... Like Kiss's first farewell tour
... Like Elton's first farewell tour
... Like
Smart money is on them canceling have the date because Perry fell off the stage

And of course I have another story, friend was doing her catering for the whole tour so got my ex-wife and I free tickets, my ex was pregnant so they installed blank boxes in the space of chairs in the row in front of us, sbc we were in row 5 or 6 front and center. It was obvious it was all about us lol, oh and Sher. One other memory, next day I dropped Jane off at an old Viking boat and Cher took all the crew out sight seeing. Jane said she was the best to tour with and lots of staff time off to see fights of the city’s, and lots of social events.
Aerosmith: In 2012 they put out a decent album called Music From Another Dimension. They got Jack Douglas to produce it and the songs were good. Problem was that nobody bought it. On the supporting tour they played two songs from it and that was that. However, Perry, Whitford and Tyler all put out new albums with their side projects.I had read an interview with Joe Perry where he indicated that there were some new songs but they weren't sure how/if/when they were going to release them.
BTW, hasn't Kiss been on a FW tour for like the last decade?
I'd love to know when your friend graduated high school. I'm guessing '71-'72. Their first ever gig was in '70 at Nipmuc High School in the burbs of Worcester. That was about a year before Brad Whitford joined to solidify the classic lineup. This photo is from that show.I shared the news of the tour with a buddy of mine who attended Roslindale High. Roslindale is a blue collar suburb just outside of Boston. Aerosmith, in fact, played the gig for my friend’s high school graduation. Had to have been a surreal Spinal Tap moment for the band. Interestingly, given that Aerosmith is a Boston area homegrown band, the band will be playing Boston Garden on New Year’s Eve.
I bought both MFAD and SB when they came out. I thought the Aerosmith album was a good attempt to get back to a more basic production. The Kiss album didn’t resonate much with me.Aerosmith: In 2012 they put out a decent album called Music From Another Dimension. They got Jack Douglas to produce it and the songs were good. KISS: They put out their last studio album, Monster, in 2012 just a month before the Aerosmith release. It was also a strong release but the reception commercially and live was almost identical to Aerosmith. As for their farewell tours, the was one in 2000-2001 that included all four original members but things went sideways in the last months, especially with Peter Criss. The four never again appeared on stage at the same time though there were tours that included Ace and one with Peter. They never did another farewell tour until End of the Road in early 2020 with an intended last show at Giants Stadium in 2021. That tour was interrupted for two years during the shutdown just after it started. The dates that happened in the last year are essentially the same as they had planned for 2020-2021. Were it not for COVID, they would have wrapped up for good in 2021.
I thought "9 Lives" was the best of the post-comeback albums, however from what I've read and various polls, I am in the minority. IMO that album was the closest they ever came to sound from the core 70's albums.Saw Joe Perry in 1980 when he broke up with them , on his first solo tour and he was totally out of it until he hit the stage!
Then saw them all in 1990 in Orlando and then in 1997 in Madrid-9 Lives is their last good album cause it ROCKS!
So sad that they left out the guy who actually designed their awesome logo, and , although he is not the best time keeper, he is a great drummer, ....BOOOO!!!!
