I seem to remember that each album that was re-released in 2007/2008 had information in their booklet on how they were recorded and mixed. I'll have to dig them out.

I will have to check this. I was too busy being mesmerized by the life-like vocals.

I haven't received my box yet from Amazon UK. But I have read conflicting reports that the 5.1 mix contains the Orson Wells dialogue. Can someone confirm?

Yes it does. The stereo mix is the 1976 version.

It does and sound great, the stereo is the original mix.

Essentially the original mix plus the 80's remix remixed.

Best of both worlds

It's pretty much all we could have hoped for! The 80s production stripped away, but the iconic dialogue intact. Plus, top-notch sound quality and mix.

I'm really disappointed. IMO the Welles dialog ruins it. I wish they had provided a 5.1 remix without it. Would it have been so hard to add two versions? Just use the same mix and drop the Welles. After all these years praying against all odds for this album to be mixed in multichannel, all I get is a 2-channel rendition in 96/24. AP, you're my hero, but...really man??
