You are killing me...I saw one of your posts from 2015 earlier today mentioning the care you took with your vinyl...and now it's paying off:rocks

Yes very sad story

It is very sad....he formed his first band...Black Cat Bones...when he was 15... and then joined with blues pianist Captain Jack Dupree to support Fleetwood Mac and Peter Green...he was considered a great guitar player by the time he reached his early 20's....he was so upset that Free broke up he turned to drugs and his health went down hill.... he died on a flight to New York from a blood clot in his leg...

Dave Murray from Iron Maiden bought one of his guitars after his death...a 1957 Fender Stratocaster....which he used for 12 years.....when I think of guys like Paul Kossoff….it illustrates how many skilled musicians there are that have flown under the radar that we know very little about....not all bands and individual performers have the commercial success and become Rock Stars and household names...many never receive the recognition they deserve except within the music community...and the sad part is that due to the age of those individuals who know of them....not many are left from that era...soon they will all be gone and countless artists will go mainly unrecognized to future generations...just like the people that listened to the music and loved it...

Hell yes!! Just ripped my original vinyl of Uli Jon Roth! Solo stuff. Of course, he was guitarist for Scorpions during early years!

So - for those that are clueless about how killer Uli Jon Roth is......listen to older Scorpions. Or, check out this video...this is from the Astral Skies album I mentioned...absolutely skillful, bluesy, Hendrix like...Trower like.....oh boy. He's excellent. One of my all time favorites. :)

I just finished going through all 203 pages of this thread. Highly enjoyable. Thanks to everyone who participated.

Wow...you do have Jedi skills Hobie One....I started this thread for us to come when we wanted to talk about things that would be "off topic" on other threads...you can't have a specific thread for every topic on a forum so it comes in handy...it's an informal thread and with the support of the Mods it's been a fun place for us to talk about a variety of topics...there actually were more posts on the thread...but they are in the old forum...

No, it's a repress by Friday Music......really nice pressing. They do good work. Mastering by Joe Reagoso.....

Look at you:cool:...mastered by WHO....now you are Mr. Vinylo_O...another notch in your skill set...vinyl...man you have come a LONG way my man...you rip music...you know your way around vinyl...you don't even resemble the guy I knew on that other forum(y)...as your bud...It's nice to see:hi

I sure wish Gene or one of the other masters at ripping vinyl would start a dedicated thread on how to do it, explaining all the hardware they use, and software programs as well. I have 800+ Lp's that I am going to convert to some type of PC program and do the same with all my cassettes and vhs tapes, hopefully saving them to several backup hard drives, and providing copies to a few fellow music nuts so that I make sure that I would have backups at other locations , if I had a disaster. .....(fire loss).
