After the audio cassette bit the dust next up was the homemade CD's to take in your car...you could make those compilation discs pretty easily...or just get a greatest hits CD and burn it from that source...I STILL have my CD recorder(I hate to throw this stuff away)as you will see below

Next morning, as I was relating this encounter to Big Sis, she said, "Come out the the car for a minute." She then proceeded to unscrew the plastic decorative logo from the center of the steering wheel on our '64 Oldsmobile, revealing a small compartment, just the right size for storing the 3 or 4 joints that were neatly tucked in there:
Wow too much.
Our '67 Cougar had nearly the same thing in the center of the steering wheel.
One quick turn counter clock-wise and the hard foam thing came off.
It was hollow and as you see in the pic below, fairly large.
Large enough for all kinds of handy accessories :smokin

Oh yeah, we all did. And of course TDK...for some reason I was drawing a blank on the names. I suppose TDK and Maxell were my go to brands...and then there was the whole "metal" tape thing....Sony was in the game pretty deep as well, though I preferred TDK and Maxell myself. I even went to the trouble to type directly onto lines of the inserts of the tapes....cause my handwriting wasn't the best...but I was a great typist. You know, the names of the songs.

You are killing me....you actually typed the song titles on those small inserts...geeze...I remember making a Killer Johnny Mathis tape for my buddy and his wife who were going on a vacation to California...he told me that they rented a convertible and drove along the coast and listened to that tape I made them...they were driving around Carmel by the Sea and hearing "99 miles from L.A. on that tape was awesome...he and his wife are big Mathis fans...

A few years later when I got my first "real" computer (a Commodore 64, natch), one of the first things I did was to write a little Basic program for indexing the cassette case. That way I could print out a numbered list of the current titles and tape it to the inside of the case lid. Then I just put a big number on each tape box. When I re-taped something, I just updated the list and printed out a new one. Once a nerd, always a nerd...

Wow, that thing's almost big enough to hold an airbag!

Don't you wish you still had a '67 Cougar! (Unless you still do, in which case: :smokin)

Well, my 72 442 had a little console that sat between the 2 front swivel buckets...you know, about the size of a large brick...a bit bigger. It opened up from the top and in the very bottom it had 2 screws holding the whole unit in place. I removed the screws and could quickly lift the insert to the whole console and there was about 2 inches deep of space underneath that I could store my pot, pipe and a small bong. yes, I had a bong in my car. :)

I'm putting this one on notice...there are others in her catalog on the list to be released...it's not surround..BUT...I love her voice and will pounce on them...also waiting in the wings on this...they just released the vinyl so it looks like the SACD could be next..

You bet I wish I still had it. Nice car made before they got bloated in the early 70's.
2-door with decent back seat space. Small roll down windows too.
Should've bought it from the old man but my interests were different at that time.
