[Moderator Edit: I have moved these first dozen posts here from the INXS Listen Like Thieves announcement discussion thread, that turned into an AU release thread)]

I have been contemplating making a post about Australian albums that are currently available in surround, or an even bigger ask: Atmos.
I don't recall hearing about ANY Oz quad releases, and I've been an avid music lover since the 60s.
My tastes are eclectic, ranging from blues to bluegrass, progressive rock and classical.
I'm probably forgetting/missing some, but the physical (or downloadable releases) are pretty scarce - I would rather own rather than rent my music... but I know some would rather stream).
My starting releases:
INXS - as mentioned in some of these posts
The Church - The Hypnogogue (Atmos)
Crowded House - Gravity Stairs (A)
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Live at Red Rocks (A) *

* Thanks to THIS POST!
Can anyone add to my embarasingly short list?
p.s. Would this be better as a new topic/post?

The Church - Forget Yourself (DVD-A).

I have all of these.

Oooh... new thread? :)

I have a sizable collection... don't encourage me ;-)

Only suggestion: We make it Aus/NZ because the inbreeding is too difficult to unravel.

Crowded House - Crowded House (DVDA)
Ice House had a Dolby 5,1best of dvd, can’t remember the name now
The Church has another DVDA (no memory of the title I can check later)

Richard Clapton with INXS band members and Diesel on a Live concert in DTS 5,1 (that is very nice) DTS is only 768kps on the DVDV, I have a great sounding upmix from the lossless CD release which is an improvement but the concert and DTS DVD audio is still great with punchy bass and isolated Clapton vocals in centre.

INXS - Live Baby Live at Wembley has a DVDV 5.1 and now a 4K/Atmos mix (a bit lame in Atmos not, discrete like I wanted but still powerful)

Aka Daka has surround on BDV concerts that have impressive audio when played loud!!! (AC/DC for non AU members)

Yes, I was thinking if I was making this list I need to split out:

High Res Surround/Atmos Audio
High Res Surround/Atmos Video
Streaming Atmos/360RA
Bluray/DVD Audio (not High Res)
Bluray/DVD Video (not High Res)

The Icehouse is White Heat, DTS track. Darth had The Church (Forget Yourself DVDA). Even that Richard Clapton DVD you pointed me to ages ago, Up and Down the Glory Road, with the DTS track, that's really nice. It would take me a couple of hours to extract make the full list I have here. Or maybe I should just use MMH to generate the list and delete the non-Aus lol.

For those that do upmixing from stereo, most the early ACDC recordings were panned nice and wide, so make great 5.1 or Quad upmixes.

Those 70/80s releases were done before loudness wars/compression ruined later 'remasters'. You can find them on Discogs probably

(David Bridie - Act of Free Choice SACD)

Wow. I was only listening to that again last night. I did query David on the possibility of more in surround but his interest at the time in multichannel was relating to his (substantial and great) soundtrack work. I would still like to see a lot of his work, particularly the earlier work with Not Drowning Waving, due to the complex, interesting nature of the recordings and lots of members playing, get a multichannel interpretation. I believe the multitracks to exist etc because I think they were offered to mixers for the Maps for Sonic Adventurers project. Alas, if anyone NDW related ever reads this, we would love to have a play... :) :) :)

Act of Free Choice is a fantastic 5.1 SACD. Its moody, immersive and has great musicianship. I highly recommend this disc, Too bad he does not want to get the 'boys in the band' back together for another go

Parcels (Aussie but living in Berlin now, I think) Day/Night and Leisurevision by Leisure (Kiwi band) are right at the top of my favourite streaming-only Atmos mixes.

Midnight Oil's Capricornia was released as a DTS CD in 2002, probably right at the end of the format, and was maybe the only one to be encoded in the short-lived DTS-ES (6.1) format.
