Side note - I was reading her recent autobiography. She is quite proud that A Star is Born was the first movie in Dolby Stereo and was initially prepared to put up $1M of her own money to make it so before the studio agreed to cover it.

Now if they'd only release all her existing Columbia QUADs on physical digital formats

BARBRA STREISAND [see also MOVIE SOUNDTRACKS] -
Barbra Joan Streisand. Columbia PCQ-30792 (SQ), CAQ-30792 (Q8),
CBS/Sony SOPN-19 (SQ) [Japan]
Butterfly. Columbia PCQ-33005 (SQ), CAQ-33005 (DQ8)
Lazy Afternoon. Columbia PCQ-33815 (SQ), CAQ-33815 (DQ8)
Live at the Forum. Columbia PCQ-31760 (SQ), CAQ-31760 (Q8)
Stoney End. Columbia PCQ-30378 (SQ), CAQ-30378 (Q8), CBS/Sony
SOPN-133 (SQ) [Japan], SOPN-44008 (SQ) [Japan]
The Way We Were. Columbia PCQ-32801 (SQ), CAQ-32801 (DQ8)
The Way We Were. Columbia 7Q-32801 (SQEP)
{Includes-Being At War With Each Other, Pieces of Dreams, Something So

Right, I've Never Been A Woman Before}

Not to mention her exquisite BROADWAY album, which, IMO, would sound spectacular remixed in Dolby ATMOS

I wonder if Sony Japan would think she's "cool" enough to do some of their special package SACDs. Maybe Sony doesn't even have the rights anymore. She's a shrewd business woman. She might just own them herself.

She has a new album coming out for her 83rd birthday.

Duets with Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Sting.

As wonderful as this sounds, and I hate to say it, most of these artists aren't exactly in their peak anymore in terms of their voices. I mean, good for them. But after hearing James Taylor and Paul Simon doing some stuff on TV variety shows, it definitely doesn't make me want to run out and buy them.
Don't get me wrong, TONS of respect and admiration for them, but....meh.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Even Streisand's once four octave vocal range has diminished greatly over the years but with modern recording techniques, I'm sure she'll pull it off!

But what about her past albums, when she still had that range? I'd buy 'em! I'd love me some Barbra in surround!

I bought Gordon Lightfoot’s “Harmony,” a CD he recorded after his aneurism, mostly out of respect for an incredible talent. It wasn’t a great listen, I’m afraid. Brian Wilson released a CD about 12 years ago that has its moments, but just moments. Most of it simply reveals what’s been lost.

Hell, there’s all sorts of stuff I shouldn’t be doing any more.
