I finally had a chance to unwrap and listen to my Soundgarden Superunknown boxset. But imagine my horror when the blu-ray was unrecognizable to 3 different players. I have a friend with the same set. His disc plays on my equipment. But mine won't play on any of his either. I live in the US and ordered this over a year ago from Amazon UK. Now the set is out of print. I couldn't find any mention in here of others with the same issue. Thank you in advance for any good advice to remedy this issue.

Every collector's nightmare. I feel for you. I'd have a go at trying to go directly to the Artist's distributor or record company, or even the manager (I'm thinking, for example, of someone like Marillion's Lucy Marillion), and plainly stating your case. You just never know your luck. I did something similar years ago when I had a dodgy Flaming Lips DVDA (Yoshimi album), and the bloke (manager, I think) sent me a replacement. He said he had it on his desk.

You could even say how you've asked for advice from fellow forum buddies on the QQ forum, hint, hint, which may help them realise you're connected and that you might let everyone know how great they were in coming to the rescue. If you can't find a name via the box set, there may be one on the bluray if they have credits. Your mate could check for you.

Failing that, the only other option I can think of, which I'm sure you have to, is to plead your case to Am UK, but they may not listen after all this time.

Huge good luck to you.

Could it be that your BR has a different regional code because it's from the UK? BR-Sets bought in the US should have BR's with a diiferent regional code. May be you can try a "code free" Blu-ray player if you have one available from someone else to check?

Thanks for the solid thought, Horbus. But alas, my friend w/ the other equipment has a region-free Oppo and it didn't recognize it on that either.

I've had a few discs rot, first at about a year after purchase was the Dark Side Of The Moon BD from the Immersion Box, and all the BDs from the PF Early Years at about a year old as well.
Were those known issues reported by other owners, or just bad luck on your part/specific environmental causes?

Sorry to hear about the Soundgarden Superunknown BR disk problem.
As other's are saying issues have surfaced with a few different BR disk's.

Bryan Adams-Reckless had a major problem with BR disk's.
Mine was part of the problem disk's and I never got a replacement even though a known problem but didn't show up right aways, frustrating as I have 100's of cd's over 40 years old and all work.

The DSOTM BR of the Immersion Box Set was a well known Issue and was replaced by the company for a couple of years as long as they had replacement discs. I had the same issue with this one but was too late for a replacement. It didn't play on my Pioneer which seems to be more sensitive in this respect but did play on my Sony. The surface of the disc (clear protective coating) became hazy over time which irritates the laser through scattering. I sold my box set when the stand alone BR came out.

Mine were all in a nice fairly even temperature room out of the direct sun etc. Others had the same issue, one of the earlier Rush releases rotted as well. The Pink Floyd ones were all made by the same EU manufacturer.

Very sad to hear. I know there were some movies from around the same time (mid 2010s) with rot issues, this is actually the first I'm reading of any surround releases. Thankfully I don't have either set mentioned (Superunknown or the DSotM immersion). I'd probably like to have a copy of Superunknown in surround someday, thankfully now I know to pass on any for sale that haven't been thoroughly vetted or noted as having had the BR replaced.
