OTTOAD. since 8 track. Profound music in spirit and sound.
Same with AQOB.

Are you sitting comfortably? Then go on the Voyage. Why is it we are here?
I bought all their SACDs last year (you likely were part/spectator at least in that QQ-centric journey). Gave them all a through single listen, but haven't made the time to return. But will! No favorite surround mix, but they all sounded better than the original stereo mixes.

My mother was a diehard fan and dragged me along to a few of their shows in the 1980s, probably 'peak Moodies' popularity in retrospect. I didn't carry the torch into adulthood but now, as an adult myself, I appreciate them more and having their entire catalog embedded deep into my musical DNA means the revisits to memory lane are immediate and profound.

AQOB is (was?) my overall favorite album, however I was surprised during last year's MB marathon by how much I enjoyed most of their material. I think my album rankings is subject to change with more listens with my more mature ears. Their use of synths, organ, strings, and backing vocals/melody is unmatched at the level in which they blend it into an accessible prog/rock mold.

My brother was 8 years older than me so I have been listening to the Moody Blues on a very regular basis since I was 6 years old. I'll be 63 in about a month! Every Good Boy Deserves Favour remains my favorite since childhood! I saw them in concert in 1979, 1982, and just before Graeme Edge died about 6 years ago and that was the best they ever sounded! The albums sound awesome in 5.1 and quad!

I made an alternate 5.1 version of Question using the hi-res stereo version and the Quad. I used DeMix Pro and a DAW. At first, I just used the stereo version, but there were issues with the acoustic guitars moving from the front to the rears and back. It had to do with an issue of phaseyness in the stereo recording itself. So now I have a 5.1 with the pompous TA-DA's in it throughout...a characteristic of the stereo version which I love.

(BTW, the stereo version sounds dynamite played through the Surround Master. So the messing around that I did was probably just an exercise in wasting time. LOL)
