The last three years has seen a dramatic increase in the use of DACs for consumers. Especially for the conversion of recordings made in DSD, DXD, or analog transfers. The word ‘Beyond’ means that the development has not stopped as we are now able to record and playback in DSD 128fs and 256fs stereo and multichannel.
Jared Sacks, founder and producer of Channel Classics record label and now founder of the NativeDSD.com download site, has been part of the development of DSD since 2000 when he was asked to be part of the implementation, beta testing, and promotions for DSD /SACD recordings.
With his own label, Channel Classics, Jared has now made over 200 recordings in DSD. Over two years ago Channel started offering its DSD files on its own site of Channel Classics; Jared and team have now branched out to create a new site called NativeDSD.com. This site is dedicated to all labels recording in DSD64, DSD128, DSD256, DXD and beyond.
Ted Brady is a longtime audiophile who has been interested in all things high resolution, especially SACD's and DSD, since the early days. Ted is now a frequent contributor on many music forums, moderates a High Resolution forum, and began his hardware reviewer career with the late Harry Pearson's short-lived ezine, HPSoundings. He now write reviews for Chris Connaker's Computeraudiophile.com and has created videos and tips-and-techniques guides to help audiophiles move into the world of computer audio. Ted is also a founding member of the NativeDSD.com team.
Jared and Ted will discuss where we are now and where we can be in a number of years in the development of this format, from the professional recording to the consumer standpoint.
