Love the dancing banana. Reminds me of the concept behind Chris Rea's 'Gods Great Banana skin'.

Rea was inspired to write the song after he noticed his daughter was tempted to laugh at "somebody who'd been giving her a hard time". Rea told John Pidgeon in 1992: "I told her 'don't laugh when people go down even if they've been awful to you because you're tempting God to throw you a banana skin'. It's half moral and half superstition. Anybody who's done me a disservice in life, and I see them go down, you get tempted to laugh. I don't know whether it's superstition or not, or I daren't laugh just in case God throws me a banana skin as well."[3]

Imagine Nothing to Fear in Dolby Atmos and really using all channels. 9min of bliss.

A new short video about the films just dropped on YouTube with some information about the various versions to be released-
* so it looks like the best version for me will be the 6-CDs with the Blu-ray (now saying selected works from 42 nights.)

"All the audio and video from 24 NIGHTS was painstakingly restored and upgraded by Clapton for THE DEFINITIVE 24 NIGHTS, which will be available on limited edition boxed sets as either 6-CDs or 8-LPs on June 23. Both versions come with three Blu-ray discs for the video content, a hardbound book, and an individually numbered lithograph featuring a photograph of Clapton by Carl Studna. Standalone versions of the individual concerts – 24 NIGHTS: ROCK, 24 NIGHTS: BLUES, and 24 Nights: ORCHESTRAL – will be released the same day in 2-CD/DVD and 3-LP (Rock and Orchestral) and 2-LP (Blues) configurations."

I'm in if he replicates the super firey guitar workout extended mix of "Cocaine" as he did on the 1980 release......

Just One Night (live in Budokan December79).RS- 2-4003

That version became somewhat of a FM radio staple here in my town.

Fwiw the super wild panning of that tune is a natural in RM quad , or involve.

OK, who did the "Europe '72 mixes" and what do they sound like (stereo ?)
Steven Wilson did the Atmos mix of The Grateful Dead's Europe '72 and it most certainly does not sound like stereo, there are rhythm guitars in the side speakers and lead guitar & backing vocals in the front heights.

The Dead's Europe '72 Atmos album, only currently available on streaming services, is, in my opinion, the best mixed Atmos live album I've heard....let alone a 50+ yr old recording. We owe their studio many kudos for giving them 16 track recording capabilities for that tour. :)

If this Clapton set is anywhere close, it will be a fun listen.

I'm streaming this and I have to say I'm enjoying the mix. There's actually a lot happening all around, not just audience ambiance. Definitely feels very immersive, if not particularly discrete. It's really great performances and a great album and even though I've listened to it for years I'll definitely be diving into it again this summer.

It's mostly wetting my appetite though, now what I really want is the Cram catalogue, Rush and Journeyman in surround.

Listening to ATMOS via Apple in Calif, pretty good.
My Box Set arrives tomorrow, not sure if the Blu Rays will be in Atmos?

Quote from Amazon:
In 1990, Eric Clapton performed 18 nights at one of his favorite venues - the famous Royal Albert Hall in London. During the 18 run of shows Clapton performed with three different line-ups: a rock band, a blues band, and an orchestra. Eric returned to the same venue in 1991 with the same three line-ups and played a further 24 shows. The huge undertaking of rehearsing for performances of three distinctly different genres was made even more challenging by the line-up for the rock shows varying from 4, 9 or 13 band members.
Clapton has always played with superlative musicians, and these shows were no exception. The bands included Johnnie Johnson, Jimmie Vaughan, Chuck Leavell, Nathan East, Greg Phillinganes, Steve Ferrone, Ray Cooper, and Jerry Portnoy. Additionally, legendary special guests joined Clapton on stage: Phil Collins in the rock ensemble; Robert Cray, Buddy Guy and Albert Collins for the blues shows. The Orchestral performances were arranged and conducted by Michael Kamen the highly regarded and successful composer who had worked with Clapton previously (Lethal Weapon, Edge Of Darkness). The set list included the epic 30 minute “Concerto For Guitar” that Kamen composed especially for Clapton – released now for the first time. Many of the performances in both years were filmed and recorded. The huge volume of audio and film material from the archive has been painstakingly restored and upgraded by Clapton’s team of Simon Climie (audio production and mixing), producer Peter Worsley (Slowhand at 70 and The Lady In The Balcony), and director David Barnard (The Lady In The Balcony). This remarkable series of shows will finally be given the release that they deserve. A full concert of each genre (Rock, Blues, Orchestral) has been assembled from the hours of material available and will be released on audio (CD, LP, digital) and with an accompanying film on Blu-ray and DVD. The Clapton classics performed with the rock band include “White Room”, “Lay Down Sally”, “Wonderful Tonight”, “Pretending”, and “Layla”. The Orchestral show features a stunning version of “Layla”, plus stand-out highlights of “Bell Bottom Blues”, “Edge Of Darkness”, and “Sunshine of Your Love”. Great covers of “Cocaine”, “I Shot The Sheriff” and “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” are also featured. The 14-song Blues set includes standards such as “Sweet Home Chicago”, “Have You Ever Loved A Woman”, and “Key To The Highway”. The limited-edition “Definitive 24 Nights” deluxe box sets include 47 songs and almost 6 hours of music on 6 CDs or 8 LPs and 3 Blu-ray’s. The Rock, Blues and Orchestral shows will also be released as stand-alone concerts on LP and CD. The CD formats also come with the film of the show on DVD.

OK, haikubass beat me by three minutes with the same link, so the salient comment is:

"The entire 24 Nights three disc Atmos set is mixed wonderfully and sounds terrific. All the meters in my 7.1.4 12 channel system show plenty of music ... A major tip of the cap to Dolby Atmos mixing engineers Andy Bradfield and Simon Climie, and Dolby Atmos Assistant Engineer Jacob Dennis for their great work on this Definitive 24 nights box set."

Eric Clapton - The Definitive 24 Nights - Dolby Atmos - WOW!
