It's part of the King Records Japan series of quad reels - they did 16 by western artists, 7 classical, and 7 domestic artists. This thread has a full list that I managed to pull together along with lots of pictures. BBQ also stumbled across this reel a few years back, but yes, it, and all of the King QRs are quite rare and command big bucks (well, at least the desirable ones) at auction. The sound quality of the handful I've heard (BB King, Quincy Jones, etc.) are excellent, and much better than most of what Ampex and Stereotape put out stateside, which was often overly bassy and sometimes too saturated.
