Hello from East TN!
I'm a long time technical person involved with audio. It's what I do to put bread on the table, but more importantly music is what I do for enjoyment too.
Started noticing a few years back how many SACD's and DVD-A's had multi-channel material. Some are from favorites and that lured me into wanting to hear the difference of the music when presented in surround. So I've setup in quad to recapture some of these mixes that were originally intended to be heard this way.
Setup a pretty good quad demo now a couple of times at an annual multi-day audio event. Stunned some people with the Carpenters, the Floyd and so on. Hearing these as intended is so much fun as is seeing others and seeing their excitement at the music! I think I'm getting up towards around a hundred multi-channel discs at this point.
