Since this is a bonafide Jethro Tull studio/live album I have to buy it - especially since I have all the other JT reissues. Although it isn't a deal breaker, it is extremely disappointing that the book set dimensions are not the same as the other reissues. Instead, it's a real oddball size that will not fit on my JT shelf, nor does it fit in with the LP sized The Zealot Gene and RökFlöte box sets. It's the same problem I have with the Fish reissues that are too big to fit in with the rest of the Marillion reissues, and this Christmas Album doesn't even match the Fish book sets. Clearly these people have no regard for collectors .

Off topic alert: I just came across a Billy Idol xmas album on Tidal (yes in atmos). Oh my God, that's all I can say. Oh my God.
Not too far off topic. With the title Fresh Snow At Christmas, it's always a nice day for a White Wetting! This remains my most-anticipated release of 2024!

Just put my order in at Importcds for $43 ($49 with tax and shipping) - Amazon still listing it for $60. I had to laugh at the detailed description at Importcds which lists the genre twice. I guess that Grammy award really made an impression...

Good price! Thanks for the heads up!

I did a search to see if a thread already existed but I did not find anything, which surprised me. Apologies if I am wrong.

From their social media pages:

Jethro Tull ring in the holiday season with ‘The Jethro Tull Christmas Album – Fresh Snow at Christmas’ edition on December 6th. Originally released back in 2003, the album has been newly remixed by Bruce Soord (The Pineapple Thief), and will be available as a Limited Edition 4CD+Blu-ray Bookset. Featuring the brand-new mixes, as well as the original ones across two CD’s, the set also features ‘Christmas Live at St. Bride’s 2008’ newly remixed, as well as over 40 minutes of unreleased recordings from a previous performance at St. Bride’s in 2006 by the Ian Anderson Band. Both of these shows were in aid of homeless charities.

The blu-ray includes Dolby Atmos, 5.1 Surround Sound & High Resolution 24/44 Stereo Mixes of The Jethro Tull Christmas Album, as well as High Resolution 24/44 Stereo Mixes of ‘Christmas Live at St Brides 2008’ & ‘The Ian Anderson Band Live at St. Bride’s 2006’. All packaged in a hardcover bookset, with brand new artwork & liner notes.

This will also mark the first time the album has ever been released on vinyl, coming as a Gatefold 180g 2LP edition.

From Loudersound:

“A fresh look at the timeless Christmas album by Jethro Tull," exclaims Tull leader Ian Anderson. "It’s a 4-CD and Blu-ray set with surround and stereo remixes by my pal Bruce Soord of The Pineapple Thief and with the bonus extra disc of another live concert at St Brides Church in London. So nice to have this revamped package re-released with the added features. Merry Christmas and may the sacrificial turkey feel no pain. Enough mulled wine and you won't either.

"Some of the tracks are not necessarily Christmas songs; they're more seasonal so that gives a broader window," says Ian. "And then there are a couple of them that I quite often play in the middle of summer and say, 'It'll soon be Christmas - it's in the diary. So let's kick it off now.' And that's part of what I've done over the years since October of 1968 when I went into record A Christmas Song. So, yes - it goes back a long way.

"Part of the joy of redoing those things," he says, "is that you can... not necessarily recreate, but you can keep all the essential elements of the song and maybe declutter it a little bit and give it a fresh look, but essentially still staying faithful to the original arrangements."

I first noticed this release on SDE and the Amazon France store had it for US $35. Amazon Italy was around $40, but apparently they don't ship to the US or it's dicey at best. The USA Amazon store cost me double that at around $70. I hope it doesn't drop in price to $35 after I receive my copy! :)

Just got an email from Bull Moose stating that this is delayed until December 20th.
Sorry to hear that, hope you still get it before Christmas!

I've just had an e-mail from Rarewaves UK saying that my copy is on its way to me, so its not a worldwide delay by the look of it.

I got an email from Amazon USA that mine is also delayed until Dec 20th. Guess what I'm getting for Christmas? (I hope)

December 20th !! That must be why I'm having trouble finding it at a local record store, nor even ordering it at that same place.

I'm still hoping it'll show up..in store . They usually have some or most of the Tull DVD/books, when the release day hits.

Support your local vendor if you can. Also isn't there a "Small Store Sale Day" this month ? (or was it November)?
