Please post your thoughts and comments on this collection from Elton John entitled "Diamonds".
Originally released in Dolby Atmos on streaming platforms in March of 2022, this collection is now available in Dolby Atmos on Blu-Ray Audio disc exclusively through the SDE store.

Good listening, but a long sit of 3.40 hours of Elton's music. Very rich sounded mix in Atmos for this type of music. Sounds better as I expected, and even better then some mixes from recent produced music. Paul hats off for this pearl in your and our collection.

Fantastic.

I've listened all the way through, twice now.
This is an exceptional release of Elton's songs.
The Dolby Atmos mix by Greg Penny is to die for.
I've said before that this release is total Class.

So much love, care and attention to detail has gone into the making of Diamonds that it can only be worthy of the highest accolade I can give it.

So the score is infinity and beyond.

A PERFECT 10 if ever there was one. The Bitch is BACK, alright, in splendiferous Dolby ATMOS and as he made a live appearance on the Golden Globe Awards last night looking better than ever and joking about his latest malady [partial blindness] he will forever be in our minds and hearts as his musical journey continues.

Just got this release. Very nice to have but I think I prefer Penny’s 5.1 mixes from all the mid-aught SACDs / DVD-A (for GYBR) which sound much more discrete IMHO. But now I have even more Elton John music in surround, and the ATMOS mixes make for a very consistent listening experience across all the Diamond Tracks! A win!

Some of the songs are very tame in terms of their 12 channel surround mix, IMHO. And I sure wish Funeral For a Friend was included - if ever an Elton John track would be sublime in Atmos, that is one for the ages.
I dont have my Diamonds copy yet but I totally agree . Fortunately I have that on 5.1 SACD.

That clearly is not a problem for @beerking who has listened all the way through twice!
Quite right, too 👏🏼
It's one of the best SDE releases....if not THE best. Excellent value for money and some truly excellent tracks (apart from That's What Friends Are For) 😋
I'm on my fourth listen so far. Can't get enough of it - my wife doesn't quite feel the same 🤣

Not sure if streaming is your thing, but this and the entire GYBR album is available in Atmos on Tidal, Apple Music, etc.

Do you two feel that some / many of these mixes are geared more for the headphones crowd rather than those of us with elaborate Atmos systems?

I haven’t listened to mine yet because it’s only 62F in the basement today. I’ve got to add heat down there!

Yes, it is, and I've listened to it - but the problem with streaming Atmos is that they compress the signals, and the side and heights have less bandwidth than the mains and center. I spent good money on my side surrounds and height channels, so when possible I prefer to listen to uncompressed 16 bit 48k audio across all 12 channels the we get on BluRay.

My other feeling was that, since they already had Funeral For A Friend in Atmnos on GYBR, it wouldn't have taken much to add it to the BluRay edition of Diamonds I certainly would have preferred that to the 2 additional tracks in stereo

As these things go, five thousand is a generous number of copies released for purchase. Still, how long will it be before people starting posting about how they missed out?
The fact that it sold out so quickly gives good hope for further EJ releases, I hope.
A Hi-rez stereo, 5.1, Atmos combi for his 1970-1976 run (and maybe some more atmos releases of his later albums) would have my wallet crying especially if they keep up this quality of mixes.
