Available in Europe in the same package as a DVD Video, this live recording has been released with an aggressive surround mix on a 5.1 SACD disc!!

Please post your thoughts and comments on this one, and also, if you wouldn't mind, let us know where you got yours, and how much it was.

THANKS!!

Ordered this morning from Amazon.com UK for 12.76 GBP, with shipping, a total of 15.84 GBP. Shipping will be 6 - 10 days. With all the talk about the aggressive mix, I couldn't resist. Looks like most of the good stuff lately is import. Comments to follow upon arrival.

Perfect combination of live concert sound with "unreal", hand-made effects.

I picked up a copy of the Kraftwerk SACD from eBay.

It's a lot of fun - the 5.1 Surround Sound mix was done by two of the band members. They have effects in all channels and do some panning. A nice fit for their electronica music.

I agree, the mix is good as well as record quality, especially for a live recording. You need to boost the volume up a little for effect. Highlights are "Tour De France", "Radioactivity" and "Autobahn". I prefer the Quad version of Autobahn to this one, but this version did add some new effects. The content is electronica, and perhaps not for everyone, but if you're in the mood, I am sure this will work for you. It is nice to have a new SACD release at all, let's hope there will be more!

Hmm, didn't try boosting the volume. I'll give that a try.

In some cases, certainly the Sonoma Records SACD is an example, that can make quite a difference.

does anybody own both the sacd and the dvd? is there a significant (i.e. noticeable) difference in soundquality, since the dts-track sounded excellent already?

Picked up this disc myself not long ago. Good quality of recording and good mix to boot. Well worth getting hold of if you are a fan of Kraftwerk. And if Sony did pay to get this release out on the format then I have no complaints whatsoever. If they want to splash their cash to get some quality releases out on the format then I am all for it.

really enjoy listening to this one. great surround disc.
however, i only found the english version. does anyone have the german version? or both? wasn't really able to gather any information on that one.

i have the german sacd, bought it at music wow for under 14 euro...
(would actually have preferred the english one, sinc ei already own the dvd in german, so to justify the additional purchase...)

Assuming both recordings are the same I suspect the difference between the German and English versions would be the language of the liner notes.

From Wikipedia:

Like many of their studio albums, Minimum-Maximum was released in two different language versions: the band's native German, and English for the international market. However, of the 23 tracks on the album, only the recordings of "The Model", "Radioactivity", "Trans-Europe Express" / "Metal on Metal", "Computer World", "Pocket Calculator" and "The Robots" are actually different between the releases. The album title, an excerpt from the lyrics of the song "Elektro-Kardiogramm" (which only exists in an English-language version), is the same for both German and English versions.

Cool - I'd like to have this in 5.1 and I missed it first time around - German is fine my me (and I actually prefer the German language stuff)

Does anyone have both German and English SACD's? If so, could we please get a scan of the German SACD back cover? I've never seen 2 different SACD versions, just one version previously released. Wikipedia only mentions one SACD release, the English version. There are differences on the front sticker (German and English) on SACDs. And I do have both Audio CD versions, but I never found 2 SACD versions when the SACD was in print. Perhaps the German SACD version was only on the Amazon DE site or other German sites and I missed it. Hope they re-release these so people can get a copy!

You can also get 5.1 sound from the DVD version:
