I have Billy Joel's old school SACD's -- Glass Houses and The Stranger. Love them both. There is a discrete audio DVD video multichannel he put out. All the videos in multichannel. For Billy Joel fans, I heartily recommend it. Very fired up for a potential multichannel mix of Greatest Hits Vol. 1&2.

If you think those Billy Joel videos have great surround, wait until you hear the "Streetlife Serenade" album. It's "Beatles in the left, instruments in the right" discrete (If you follow my reference). Let's just say it's very discrete. (So is Piano Man, but sadly that title is MFSL, and they don't seem to be interested in surround EVEN THOUGH THE LABEL'S FOUNDER WAS A QUADRAPHONIC CHAMPION!!!! He would clearly cringe if he saw what was happening to his label) :(

What are the chances that I was playing Nightbirds just the other night as well? It was less than thirty hours ago and I was wondering if it would ever see a release from AF.

Damn, what's going on here?

In case you are having some cosmic influence, please let us know what you are listening to next! :)

Yes, Brad would still be pushing the format along somehow, happy as a puppy with 2 tails at these 4.0 mixes finally being released, as 4.0, no ******** changing things for the movie guys!! He would love that part.

A note to Audio Fidelity: I hadn't bought any AF product until this multi-channel project started up; I have now.

I have exactly 1 AF disc released prior to this point: The Zombies Greatest Hits, which is pure joy.

But otherwise, yes - with the addition of "Child", "Super Session" and the Guess Who, my total is rising, and with no end in sight :)

It's nice that CBS/Sony are letting loose of these masters for special projects such as this. (And of course, the WEA titles that are appearing too. Just ordered my copy of Bread!)

It's also nice that Marshall is so obviously attuned to his potential market. Small-batch jobs like these can definitely be profitable for boutique companies!

I think a lot of credit has to go to the multichannel maven Bmoura for getting this input to Marshall...

Here's a silly thought. Ok, so MFSL has licensed Piano Man and chances are, will not/will never do the quad or a new 5.1. Fine, but they licensed the stereo copy as well, so that probably precludes AF from releasing their own. Fine there too.

However, would it be possible for AF to release the QUAD Piano Man with the SQ version in the stereo layer and the discrete version in the MCH layer?
That way, people get an alternate Stereo Piano Man, or, if they leave the SQ encoding intact - fodder for modern and vintage SQ decoders! But also, we get the discrete version as well on the Quad layer.

Would something like that be possible? Sorry, I'm just itching for the Quad Piano Man! It's an aggressive mix but it's a GOOD aggressive mix!

How delicious it would be if AF were to release some of Brad Miller's Quads (the Mystic Moods etc.) on Surround SACD..

It isn't silly, it isn't silly, it isn't silly at all...! :D

I also want Piano Man and the rest in a quad mix or, dare I say, 5.1. Hope these come out but it seems most don't want to (ahem) keep the faith we will get them. I hope. In the meantime, this is a discrete mix on video, rue the day, I respectfully suggest. http://www.amazon.com/Billy-Joel-Es...qid=1426818685&sr=8-3&keywords=billy+joel+dvd

Not that "Todd" is an audiophile guru, that is left to Todd316, but if anyone else owns this, I like it and feel similarly to Todd. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1426820488.111206.jpg
