Falco?I usually don't miss 80's hits on Atmos
The “After Eight” version of POTR was essentially just all channel stereo. Is the 40th Anniversary edition of POTR discrete?I was listening with the missus to the Irving Berlin Songbook album (Thanks for the recommendation) and she remembered that 'Puttin' on the Ritz' was also a big 80's hit, so we went to hear Taco's version and to my surprise it was in Atmos!
I usually don't miss 80's hits on Atmos but this one was not in my library and I don't remember it coming out.
Anyway, I was really exited to hear the mix, as the song has plenty of sounds elements to place all over the speakers, but to my disappointment, the mix was very weak.
I mean, you have a Tap dance solo in your song. How many songs can say that they have a Tap dance solo?! So I expected that the solo will be highlighted in the height channels. But NO! nothing.
So I started to go back from the artist page and I something caught my eye...A 40th anniversary edition.
Is this a new rendition? A dance version for modern age?
I went in to listen and not only that it was the same version as the original, but it was also a new Atmos mix!
Now let me tell you, That's the fastest song that I ever clicked to add to my demo playlist.
Everything I wished for the original Atmos version to be, was fulfilled in this new mix.
Tap dance solo in the height channels? Check!
Panning synths throughout all the speakers? Check!
Discrete sounds coming from all speakers and placed accordingly? Check!
Such a delight to find.
So thanks @humprof for puttin' me on the path to find the Ritz![]()
This track has been available for quite some time. Curious about any plans Rhino may have. Not sure if this is new but Rhino’s Instagram page posted about a Dolby Atmos mix of Sister Golden Hair.
Could there be a potential Atmos blu-ray in the pipeline? It could also include the original quad mix!
I figured as much, but I’m pretty sure Rhino did some promotion about the Chicago Greatest Hits Atmos mix before the Blu-Ray came out, so it’s likely it will get a physical release. This track has been available for quite some time. Curious about any plans Rhino may have.

And thank YOU for posting this! Can't wait to listen to an 80's fave. (Now I just want an Atmos mix of Taco's version of Cheek to Cheek.)Now let me tell you, That's the fastest song that I ever clicked to add to my demo playlist.

I don't have an explanation why it disappeared from Apple, but its still on Tidal - https://tidal.com/album/252931965?uDoes anyone know of a reference (or thread) that tracks the disappearance of Atmos tracks and albums from streaming? For example Tom Petty’s Greatest Hits. Thanks!
I only have front height speakers. Quite suprised that the voice announcing the back height speakers comes from those speakers as well. I thought that would be in the surround back speakers.nicer way to demo Atmos
Search for the thread atmos mixes not available on apple music.Does anyone know of a reference (or thread) that tracks the disappearance of Atmos tracks and albums from streaming? For example Tom Petty’s Greatest Hits. Thanks!

Nice. Not the original recording, but featuring many of the same players:Ooh! Looks like the version of Music for 18 Musicians that I have on vinyl now has a mix!
