Grobschnitt - Solar Music Live……..Atmos Mix
A NIGHT AT THE OPERA, RUSTY?
Yes 4-earredwonder! At the age of 16, my highschool friends and I would debate who would create the first rock opera. We all thought it would be The Beatles. And then, The Who surprised us with TOMMY. Not to mention the beautiful artwork to let your imagination fall into. To think that was more than 50 years ago...A NIGHT AT THE OPERA, RUSTY?
Thanks for the link, I like Sibelius, so ordered and at £23.55 delivered I'd be crazy not to!View attachment 112473
Had a bit of an ice storm here and had a hankering for some Sibelius. Listened to the 2nd off the Blu-Ray Disc, but the whole section is a fantastic deal 5 SACDs and the same content on a blu-ray. The LSO will sell you the box directly for GBP 20: https://lsolive.lso.co.uk/collections/20-off-box-sets/products/lso0675-sibelius
Time for a(nother) Gainsbourg revival!Obviously there are a lot of high-profile releases garnering all the attention these days, but one of my favorite new releases has largely flown under the radar: a 2-CD/1-BDA set of Serge Gainsbourg's trippy L’homme à tête de chou, which can be had for under 30 bucks (US) from Amazon or jpc.de. (It came out at the end of June.)
Poussin, who has mixed pretty much the entire Gainsbourg catalogue in Atmos for Apple and Tidal (and who did the SACD and Blu-Ray for Histoire de Melody Nelson a few years back), was asked by Universal France to undertake a new, more adventurous Atmos mix for this set. He succeeded handsomely, IMO. The original streaming mix from 2021 is fine, too, though it intentionally hews close to the bone-dry, voice-forward stereo mix in its overall "feel." Details about the mixing & mastering of the BDA here; background here and here. Disc navigation is straightforward and effective.
