How did this slip through the cracks...

I can't find anything about it's release...

Please, oh please let a Blu-ray be around the corner!

I don't see The Two Towers yet.

I own the DVD version of those releases... But an Atmos release... That's on another level!

If a Blu-ray (Atmos) becomes available... I will not miss the opportunity to purchase it this time.

Iā€™ve reread most of the Poll comments about the earlier DVDs (wasnā€™t there also a later BD version?); I always felt Iā€™d love to have those, but the mostly luke warm or even cold responses to a lackluster mix gave me pause. Perhaps it has more to do with it being sort of Classical genre style with a more forward mix.

So if these did come out again, but in a physical Atmos BD, Iā€™d be tempted again to get these, even if the mix was somewhat conservative. There are tons of other Film/Score/Soundtrack titles Iā€™d love to have if theyā€™d put them out with a decent surround mix. Up to this time, there are only a few that have been done IINM. The Live John Williams music comes to mind. Seems like a real missed opportunity to me.

And sorry I donā€™t recall; arenā€™t some of these available to check out on Apple streaming services in Atmos also?

It's here in Apple Music:
Funny as the album is not tagged as Atmos, but when played, it is. Not specifically impressed so far

Really? Khazad Dum sounds wonderful.

The Tidal albums are missing lots of tracks... which makes the albums hardly "The Complete Recordings"... I really hope this is a work in progress. As The Two Towers hasn't been listed yet.

Inception has an excellent 5.1 release. Unfortunately, a few of the tracks (including arguably the centrepiece, Waiting for a Train) are not on the 5.1 version.

Wondering now if there's a dedicated thread for this sort of music (lists, lists, lists) on the QQ?

There's even a variant to this, as end credit music in surround, on some DVD/BDs that may be in pretty good surround. Could be ripped and saved etc.

Sadly... After comparison... I think I have to agree. An Auro-3D upmix of the original 5.1 is superior.

I had high hopes. šŸ˜«
Just what makes that little old Ent
Think he'll move that cd pressing plant
Anyone knows an Ent, can't
Move a cd pressing plant

But he's got high hopes, he's got high hopes

maybe I should get some sleep.

Took me right back to pre-kindergarten, Frankie & the kid chorus.

Forum etiquette check: Is this a poll thread?
Nope.
Post reply.

See my issue is totally different. When the CDs for this came out in like 2005, I hated how they had connected tracks, dialogue and source music all mixed together. So I ripped the entirety of Fellowship (and later did the same for Two Towers and Return of the King) and did my own edit, combining tracks so they were whole and complete with silence in between, and removing source music. Geek moment: I also renamed many of the tracks back to Tolkien's book chapter titles, etc. šŸ¤“

Quite recently, within the last two years, I went back and did the same thing for the hi res 5.1 files I ripped from my DVD-As. So it's very difficult for me to listen to these streaming Atmos tracks, especially with no gapless playback in Atmos. I think for my own sanity I have to stick with my edited FLAC files.

I understand... šŸ˜‚ Have you added the missing/omitted elvish subtitles to the films yet?

Attached... Have fun!
