ah shit, I was listening to her 90s live album, blazing away earlier. I read her autobiography in the 90s despite not really knowing much of her music. a friend educated me and gave me a cassette with blazing away on one side and broken english on the other. I pretty much wore it out.

a few years later I saw her performance as the devil in the black rider (tom waits/robert wilson/william burroughs). needless to say, she didnt disappoint.

anyway, if anyone is looking for me I'll be taking a walk around times square with a pistol in my suitcase and my eyes on the tv

Broken English is excellent. IMHO her version of Working Class Hero on it is better than the original, it really hits hard. End of an era, RIP Marianne
