A trend I notice, many...if not most, seem to post movies that are historically substantial. Nothing wrong with that obviously. Sometimes, a member seems to focus on fantasy, others Sci-Fi, others, feel good movies.

It seems that I am in a minority (so far) that posted comedy as a front-runner. I think. But, I'm not keeping track...so there is that.

Just observations. Nothing more. :)

It is also very interesting to me how some people really seem to like a certain genre, director, style, etc.

I think movies are highly subjective to a persons tastes and it's why movie critics and awards are virtually meaningless because unless a certain movie fits your tastes you're probably not going to like it and may go so far as to say it's a "bad" movie.

some more:

Hoffa
Born on the Fourth of July
Reservoir Dogs

No Woody Allen on the list. Too creepy?

Sleeper
Annie Hall
I loved his early films: Bananas, Everything You Wanted to Know About Sex, Love and Death, and etc... I remember watching Sleeper over and over. His later films are also good Hannah and her Sisters, Crimes, Midnight in Paris, etc... I just don’t watch them again and again.

The Final Countdown (1980)

The USS Nimitz aircraft carrier goes back in time, to the day before the attack on Pearl Harbor, to face the Imperial Japanese Navy. Kirk Douglas, Martin Sheen, Katherine Ross, Charles Durning and James Tarentino. How come no one is remaking this movie?

North By Northwest
The Fifth Element
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Six Days Seven Nights

There are others that escape me for the moment. Some of the XMen and Jason Bourne movies. Multiple Hitchcock’s
I’m a big fan of Harrison Ford. Recently I enjoyed him in the 2013 movie about Jackie Robinson, titled “42”. But one film that I never tire of watching is The Fugative (1993). Harrison is good but so is Tommy Lee Jones. This scene is classic:

Hachi - A Dog's Tale (2009)

Based on real events, the story of a dog who waited at a train station for his owner....for almost 10 years. Guaranteed to have you crying like a baby.

In honor of this thread I watched an old favorite tonight:

Electra Glide in Blue featuring Robert Blake before Baretta, as well as what is said to be the first (and uncredited) screen appearance of Nick Nolte. Also appearing as credited actors are Peter Cetera & Terry Kath from the band Chicago. Uncredited are musical performances by the band Chicago as part of the excellent soundtrack. A cult classic!

Why remake a CLASSIC, Soundboy? You know they're just going to screw it up. Low Budget but high concept. Loved the original.
