It doesn't save the files anymore
Yes, I got the same result - the process created a folder called "Remixed", but it was empty?

Hi Garry,

This new beta still is t pulling in my preferences from MMH8. Am I doing something wrong?

Also the “skin” is stuck on light mode, even when I change it to “dark”.

Thanks!

Hi,

I don’t understand why you can’t change the skin.

Does it change to instantly to Dark in preference when you select it in Preferences. Are you clicking ‘Save’ before exiting Preferences?

Have you installed the latest beta 3 I posted today?

Yes, this is with the beta from today. I’ve never had a version of MMH default to light skin, so I’ve never had to change it. But it’s on light from the get go, and nothing I do will change it.

Could it have anything to do with Parallels?

Edit: just looked at MMH8 and skins change instantly without a problem.

Ok I found the issue. Its fixed in a new Beta 3 uploaded just now.

I changed MMH yesterday to Track Windows App Mode color theme (Dark or Light setting in Windows 11 Settings, see below). That changes all Windows apps that support this to dark for me, but the default is Light, users with it set to Light forces yesterdays MMH build to Light.

Anyway, I removed that setting in the MMH 9 build just uploaded. Apologies

Thanks Garry! Any idea why preferences aren't carrying over from MMH8?

I’m pretty sure for you it was due to you using MMH 9 beta 1 which was prior to me writing the code to copy MMH 8 settings.

If you still have MMH 8 installed you could try running it and saving a Preference.

Then delete the new MMH 9 settings file (or rename it) in the new location. Then run MMH 9 and it should attempt to get the MMH 8 settings.

You should read the posts about this about 5 or 6 pages back:

MMH9 settings are no longer stored in Windows Isolated Storage. Now in the user's '..\AppData\Roaming\Music Media Helper' folder
The user’s folder in Windows is: ‘c:\users\[user name]’. MMH9Settings.xml is the file name.

In MMH 8 and earlier it is locked away in Windows Isolated Storage which MMH doesn’t know the exact location, it’s a randomised folder name under a randomised folder name. So to get MMHs settings it finds the randomised folder with latest edit date with the MMH xml file and presumes that to be the last one used by MMH 8. I wrote about this a while back.

Foobar now plays mlpa/truehd. Funny thing is VLC won't...

VLC won’t play TrueHD in .m4a containers. It’s an easy fix but no VLC user has logged the issue. I believe that VLC library is also used in other programs like JRiver which has same issue. The VLC library is open source, hence it’s used in many apps.

Thanks Garry. Unfortunately, the Preferences file isn’t as easy to find using Parallels. There is no AppData folder in my users folder within C: drive. Is it a hidden folder that requires a workaround to be visible?

EDIT: I found it by searching directly for the file name. Deleted the xml, saved a preference in MMH8, but when I launched MMH9, it didn’t move over the preferences. Tried uninstalling MMH9 altogether then re-downloading, but got the same result. And now MMH9 is back to alerting me about an available update, even though I’m already using Beta 3. Ugh.

@Mickb @Arth Attack

I've rewritten the MMH CopyTags code so there should be no further problems with this code anyway in MMH.

It now broken into separate isolated steps:
Copying standards tags from source file
Removing ReplayGain from converted file
Copy embedded Artwork to converted file

After each step tags are saved to converted, so if ReplayGain has an error standard tags and embedded art should still get saved

MMH 9 beta 3 (updated today) installer:

I should add another new Remix tool to remix any 8 channel file to 5.1 FLAC, that would allow a user to converts the core Atmos 7.1 to 5.1 FLAC at any sample rate/bit depth (useful for those that don't have an Atmos system maybe?
