I'm an over educated old guy with too many hobbies.
Right now I'm using an NAD T778 receiver with an Oppo UDP 203, Linn speakers all the way around. I own about 200 SACDs, a few blu-rays and there are around 24,000 tracks (stereo only) that stream from a computer through the LAN and the NAD.
Hope to learn a bunch from members here and share what little I've learned if possible.
Welcome Merrill! I'm right down the road in Ann Arbor. And to echo the others, yes, this is a good place to lose money on hi-fi surround merchandise. I've spent thousands on recordings that I otherwise would not have known about if not for this forum. Go Blue!

First suggestion - stream through your Oppo. My Oppo is a 105, and it’s my primary sound source device, streaming from a drobo (sadly out of business) network attached RAID box. It does MCH FLAC just fine that way, although not quite gapless.
Stream through the Oppo into the receiver via HDMI? If the receiver has ethernet, wouldn't it be better to stream direct into the receiver?

My Marantz has Ethernet, too. I prefer the user interface on the Oppo, as well as the DACs (using analog connections between the two). Additionally, my Marantz doesn’t play video through Ethernet.

There’s probably not any difference if you’re using HDMI for the audio connection, though.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.

How you lose money is that they keep changing the surround methods and not making the new equipment able to play the old recordings.
