Sad news, his lyrics are part of my musical history. I'll give

a spin in a moment. RIP Pete

Rest in peace.

Will never forget the first time hearing his lyrics 55 years ago, and seeing his name last in the personnel credits: Peter Sinfield - words and illumination

The purple piper plays his tune
The choir softly sing
Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
For the court of the crimson king
My brother bought the In the Court album when he was 15 and I was 7. I can remember he would call me in the room when he played it because I liked it so much and I would ask him to turn it up. I guess I was ahead of my time at 7. The last time I saw my brother before he died about a year ago, we listened to this album together. Talk about music being a part of your life! Rest in Peace my brother.... and Peter Sinfield.

It always brings me joy to remember that Sinfield also wrote the lyrics for The Land Of Make Believe by Bucks Fizz. That's nothing to be ashamed of in my opinion, but I can't imagine there is much cross-over in their respective fans. I've just looked on Wikipedia and Sinfield is quoted as saying: "[The song] Beneath its tra-la-la's is a virulent anti-Thatcher song" and went on to say "it is ten-times more difficult to write a three-minute hit song, with a veneer of integrity, than it is to write anything for King Crimson or ELP".
