Unless your name is James Guthrie......Now if we're actually talking DTS 5.1 as used on DVD-Video or Laserdisc then yes I agree it is far better than Dolby Digital 5.1 (AC-3)

Yes well, Guthrie's preference for DD 5.1 over DTS and his preference for valve mic amps (lets add odd order harmonics to the audio shall we?) are why I think he's highly misguided at best and an idiot at worst.Unless your name is James Guthrie......
I am 'ancient history'It will be either DTS HD MA 5.1, Dolby True HD 5.1, or LPCM 5.1. All are lossless so no difference.
Now if we're actually talking DTS 5.1 as used on DVD-Video or Laserdisc then yes I agree it is far better than Dolby Digital 5.1 (AC-3), but that comparison is ancient history.
Roman ruins thousands of years old, the remains of a tragic natural disaster: I sleepI was in Italy in November so took a couple days and checked out the Pompeii ruins. They have quite a bit of PF memorabilia when you enter the amphitheater and have Echoes from the movie looping on a screen at the end of a long tunnel filled with PF tour posters, etc. At some point in the past they have done screenings of the movie in the amphitheater. The new release sounds like a good time for another screening at the amphitheater.

Link U Bastage!!I pre-ordered from Amazon US. I can't freaking wait man. Improved video as well? This is a effing slam dunk.
The PF webstore says thisOne of those that I MUST have. Pre ordered this morning . Is the 5.1 Dolby or DTS? Curious...
Pink Floyd at Pompeii MCMLXXII
I was there. Here's a pic of me pre-gig.On a side note I watched the King Crimson documentary last night, I had no idea they performed at Pompeii in 2018! Aside from Floyd and Gilmour I think Crimson is the only other band to have performed there. Here’s a couple of pics from Tony Levin’s road diary
They still do gigs at the Ampitheatre. This was the 2024 season https://seepompeii.com/en/all-2024-summer-concerts-in-the-amphitheater-of-pompeii/Yup. And i think this was the last performance allowed there.
Final cut is atrocious, animals is the best Floyd album ever.Yeah man! Animals sucks....
...my will to stop listening to it.![]()
Russell Crowe and a band named Pooh. They still do gigs at the Ampitheatre. This was the 2024 season https://seepompeii.com/en/all-2024-summer-concerts-in-the-amphitheater-of-pompeii/
And each can end up sounding noticeably different depending on the receiver you have. Trust me, you'd notice a clear difference on mine (and I rarely prefer DTS).Presuming they're all fed identical audio for encoding, that DTS-HD MA, Dolby TrueHD and LPCM are digitally identical upon decoding is a statement of fact, unlike 'we prefer DTS' which is an opinion. There's no need to be condescending to people who take the time to reply to yoru queries, even if it isn't the response you were looking for.
Pooh's name definitely doesn't travel. Massive in Italy and South America.Russell Crowe and a band named Pooh.
Suddenly the mystic vibe I envisioned for Floyd‘s performance there is completely shattered![]()
YesI looked at the Pink Floyd site and it looks like there’s not a version of Echoes on it that isn’t in two parts. Am I reading that right?
So kind of like the Norwegian neo-Prog band “Air-Bag”.Pooh's name definitely doesn't travel. Massive in Italy and South America.
You are confused!I'm a little bit confused. "Echoes" is split in 2 parts at the beginning and the end. That's right for the film version. The Concert-Version (60 min. Version) starts normally with "Careful with that axe, Eugene" and ends with the whole "Echoes". Look at "Early Years - 1972 Obfusc/ation".
