Don't base your purchase on me. We need more folks to chime in and see if I'm full of shit! :)

UPS finally, on the THIRD day it was out for delivery, decided to let me have the package. I just listened to AMLoR and like it well enough. I have mixed but largely positive feelings about the album in general, but it's never exactly been my desert island PF title. I agree with whoever said it's kind of an everything everywhere mix, but I don't have a particular problem with that. Overall I give it a thumbs up, but it probably won't wind up on repeat.

Congratulations @perzon57 on your upcoming retirement!!!
Thanks to the wonderful fellowship here at QQ, I keep plenty busy spending my money and keeping out of trouble.
I second that emotion, Person57 - congrats on your impending retirement. It’s been 3 years since I retired and I love it. You should too as long as your fixed income budget includes sufficient discretionary spending to cover your surround sound habit!

The Blu Ray disc 11 actually quite good. The Endless River film by Ian Emes is beautiful and calming.

#8 of The Documentaries will be interesting to all.

Why do they have BD's and DVD's? I bet if they sold a BD box set and a DVD box set the Blu Ray would out sell. Surely everyone has a Blu Ray player by now?

Everybody that has got the box, forget for a moment about the AMLOR discussion and play, very loud, DSOT. At last I had the chance to play it in surround (just Shine On) and it's jaw dropping. Sound quality and mix wise it's astonishing. The synths sound full and rich, you can feel them in your body. And the mix has nothing to do with Andy's previous live mixes.
After a shitty week, now I just have to find the time to sit on my own and listen.

Aw man, now I want this overpriced box set!

I like it a lot. I’ll get out my older Pulse and compare!!

Thanks for doing so! In the latest version, I hear sound effects, vocal effects and even some lead parts squarely in the surrounds. Plus surrounds used to "push" or "extend" the music out in to the room a bit.
I don't remember any of the above from the DVD set version.

It's really hard to demo one vs the other. I'm trying. Honestly, I'm finding it hard to hear any difference whatsoever. That said, the later years version seems to just play louder. I don't mean that negatively. It's just louder. Same volume on my receiver and the later years one is much louder.
