I'd only want the mono box if it is on Vinyl. Why would anyone want low res 16/44.... it's so last century.

This is an interesting subject and I like reading the opinions. I am purchasing the Beatles Mono Box Set probably to indulge the collector side of me more than the purist musical side. I previously purchased the Beatles Stereo box set and then Japan released replica mini LP's of the stereo versions in SHM CD's, well I just had to purchase the mini LP set solely for the packaging and not the actual discs as I had no expectation that the RBCD's (SHM CD's) would be any different. I was very happy to have the SHM CD collection be significantly better than the RBCD box set. Now CDJapan, for a good price, is doing a Japanese SHM CD version of The Rolling Stones in mono and I have jumped on that as I know they will have killer mini LP's and I assume the sonic quality of the SHM CD will be at least a hair better than the US released box set. Just in case somebody wants to tell me, I am fully aware that SHM CD's are 16/44.1 and some think a rip off. I personally disagree and I feel they are a bit better.

There are many many small and some big differences on many of the songs between the mono and stereo versions

Snood had a better nicer list than this, but can not find the link...check this out though

Think any huge Beatles fan would enjoy the differences.

Also here is a koo video of some differences

I have plenty of Beatles surround sound mixes that are better than the mono and the stereo mixes. Abbey Road, Sgt Pepper, Revolver, Help, Hard Days Night to name a few.

Besides the fact that the "Help!" and "Hard Day's Night" films were released on Blu-Ray (with surround mixes), none of their (proper) albums were released in surround sound, so whatever you're listening to is not official, but hey, if you like it, fine. FWIW, I enjoy my Beatles Mono CD set quite a bit. :)
