This might be the most in-depth interview I've done to date - Justin is incredibly knowledgeable and one of the most passionate advocates for Atmos/immersive audio that I've met to date. It's a long piece, but I think we were able to get into some really interesting discussions particularly around the practice of mastering (as someone who isn't terribly well-informed about how these things work at the pro level, hopefully I don't sound too out of my depth asking the questions!).

Great interview, and I'm with him in thinking that John Mayer's Continuum - his singular shining moment of perfection between his earlier overly-poppy work and later overly-douchey work - would make for a great Atmos experience. The shame really is that if the artist himself was involved it would end up a boring listening experience like the SACDs of his early albums and the revised Atmos mix of Sob Rock he supervised, which replaced the much-better one that Thom Cadley did on his own.

Pretty interesting how he still hypes up doggystyle album when it sounded really bad so label had to get a new mixer right away after their Apple Music launch. Justin was a temp mixer. Just search for the mixer credit he is not even on there… and yet still he claims those are his mixes.

How do you know the original upload wasn’t someone else’s mix (probably an upmix or done with incomplete multitracks, as detailed in the article) and Justin’s was the replacement?
Just search for the actual credits. Julio was hired by Snoop himself. Justin was hired by E1. Snoop since acquired Death Row.

Who’s Julio?

I noticed today that in sharing the article, Justin tagged both Death Row and Christine Thomas (Head of Music Industry Relations @ Dolby). If he really was taking credit for someone's else work, it would be pretty stupid to bring that to the attention of Dolby and the label.

Can anyone else here confirm that there are in fact two different Atmos mixes of Doggystyle?
