@rustyandi

Ron ,this album is recommended for quad matrix decoders as per the album notes , and the group is Australian, so this should be an easy find for you . There should be an Australian edition I figure.

And perhaps in your backyard as well @bigbillquad 🤔

Not really quad but a nice listen in UHJ .

Laurie Johnson/London Studio Orchestra-First Men In The Moon , Captain Kronos , and...Dr.Strangelove ...on
UNICORN KANCHANA DKP 9001

I bought this mainly to hear "the final bomb run" from Dr. Strangelove , and it's very well done.
(And of course I have the movie on DVD) Should work to some degree w/Sansui or Involve matrix.

And John Keating - Space Experience EMI Studio 2 ....Q4 TWO 393 UK Album.SQ

Probably not that rare ,at least not as rare as the Canadian edition ? And the USA album on Columbia/CBS
I wonder if it had a Capitol Records EMI release in 🇦🇺 Australia or New Zealand 🇳🇿🤔

Jeez. I have not bought any Quad LP's in decades. All that survives today are a few CD-4's and SQ's. Would not know what rare is in most cases...no longer have a TT with Shibata stylus or a CD-4 demod. No hardware SQ decoding either.
I would certainly defer to those mentioned. especially @fredblue who's collection is most impressive from what I gather. I believe @sjcorne has a nice collection himself. Several others, for sure.

Importantly, my surround sound journey started with Quad in the early 70's with a Panny Q8 bought at the "big PX" in Danang as I remember, right or wrong, many many years ago far away. Time blurs things. Could have been later.

I'm still hoping that both Big Bill Quad and Ron Brain can supply this thread with some of the rare quad pics they most certainly have in their collections.

They may even have the numbers to crash this site !!

🤗

@bigbillquad , @rustyandi

And lets not forget @fredblue 🤩
Hi. fizzywiggs

I have been neglecting to show some of my recent Quad acquisitions, some may be of some interest to some of you and maybe rare to acquire so I will put them here to view.

I won’t say my quad LP collection is any better than anyone else’s here, but it’s reasonable at least. I don’t have an inventory of the quads because I don’t really have an inventory of my vinyl, so it’s hard to say just what’s in there or not.

I’ve been putting a lot of digital stuff on discogs, and it and my 7” collection are there, along with the Franklin Mint classical collection. Next will be the 78rpm stuff, then the LPs. It’s very time-consuming to put a new release up there, so putting 1300 or so LPs won’t be done any time soon, as I expect about 20% of my collection will end up being my own new submissions.

Of course, I haven’t been able to play vinyl for five or six years, although I have both a surround master and a CD-4 decoder, one of those relay switches, surface noise reduction and a dbx decoder, but sadly, none of it is hooked up and none of it has been powered up since I moved to Idaho. (One of my turntables was damaged in the move and not discovered for two years while it was in storage, the other needs a bit of attention that has been given to other projects.)

I noted in another thread that I’m actively shopping for a turntable that can play CD-4s, but so far I’m not attracting the attention of the local shops, in spite of my waving around a nicely funded budget.

Hi. ALL

I have not seen these LPs before on eBay or the Japanese sites, so I don't know if they're rare or hard to come by. I`ll pull out some more later.

I wouldn't concern myself with the numbers game.... ie many vs. few.

As long as you think it's a rarity...do yourself a favour and proudly put it up for all to see.

It's an honor to see some of these . I personally like the discs or tapes (quad) , that most of us have never seen or the albums that have a matrix encode that is rarely seen .
But that's just my preference, if you go back to see some of the pics and posts you won't be disappointed.

Just as Bill has shown us above that early Trio album with the 'SSSS' matrix .
And I know from history.......Trio had SQ , and RM albums as well.(and possibly CD-4).
Makes my day knowing that some labels had multi system quad formats.
Seeing is believing.

I believe that "BEST OF NEW ORLEANS JAZZ" by the 'NEW ORLEANS RASCALS' is a rare one, didn't find it in discogs; and would be great if someone here that inputs discogs data could throw that one in there, here's the band's discogs link below-

Interesting that "The World Is Waiting For The Sunrise" has a similar cover in stereo (but with some different songs).

I recently acquired the "Argentine In New Sounds" QS LP as well, and believe it's also fairly rare. I am close to doing a SM decode of it, anxious to hear what it sounds like; currently on a stack ready to be cleaned first ;)
