Keep in mind SDE only puts out albums as part of the series if they have a new Atmos mix, no pure reissues of existing quad (or 5.1) versions. So that's something that would hold up a release of Welcome Back My Friends To The Show That Never Ends in the series.

Yes that could be , but I think in regards to that particular album , there may be missing multis.

Did you know that 'Silverline' had that..album of ELP -Welcome Back My Friends To The Show That Never Ends.....on a 'to be released' list?

A bit early I know . However I noticed the lukewarm response to batch 7.
Although I will be buying 3 out of 4 of those titles. (-Spinners)

And I think I might know one of the next Quadio titles , from a hint I noticed on one of the prior posts to 7.

If I'm wrong no harm done.

Next batch may be eclectic or electronic titles focus.

With 'Beaver And Krause - Gandharva/All Good Men"

Now let the speculation begin.........
What about a Quadio version of The Electric Light Orchestra import that's on the Harvest label?
Perhaps the unreleased titles as well... I read that Warner Brothers shares the rights with Harvest/Capital?

I have the 2012 EMI Harvest 40th anniversary import edition with the 1973 Quad mix in DTS 96/24 and Dolby Digital.

Would be nice to have the Quadio versions of the unreleased quad mixes of ELO 2 (1973) & Eldorado (1974) albums.

Rhino get it done!

I would truly love some ELO , especially Eldorado, but they are and have been Sony product for a very long time.
It's too bad we can't seem to give Jeff Lynne the quad/5.1 bug.
And his fan club leader , Bob Caiger , on facethemusic is a fan of
quad surround .
He played a large part in getting those ELO 2 quad tracks released.

What's weird about Three Dog Night , is that their hit songs were written by other artists.
Like Chest Fever , by Robbie Roberson of The Band , Harry Nilsson with 'One' and Randy Newman with 'Mama Told Me Not To Come'.

And Randy Newman has another candidate for a Quadio release. The Quad 'Sail Away' album previously only available on Q-Reel .
Yep. They weren't songwriters. But they were VERY good at choosing material for themselves.

What I find most interesting about TDN in that regard is the way they only strayed a bit from the demos they were probably working from. Whichever one is singing Mama Told Me is pretty clearly doing a Newman impersonation. I can almost hear Paul Williams singing "Old Fashioned Love Song" every time I play it. etc.

They made the songs their own, but seemed to instinctively understand that staying true to the songwriter was necessary as well.

So you are saying that Sony owns the rights then? Early ELO was on Harvest.
Bob Caiger released ELO 2?

While in Eldorado I consulted the great and powerful AI. Here's his response.

However, some of the older, "back catalog" material from Harvest is now owned by Warner Music Group, due to divestment's that happened when Universal music group took over EMI.

Rhino Records is a division of Warner Music Group.

Therefore, Rhino's involvement with Harvest Records stems from the fact that:
  • Warner Music Group has acquired portions of the EMI/Harvest back catalog.
  • As a division of Warner Music Group, Rhino is responsible for managing and reissuing much of that catalog.
In essence, Rhino Records doesn't "own" Harvest Records in its entirety. Instead, they have rights to manage and reissue specific recordings that were originally released on the Harvest label, within the larger Warner Music Group catalog.

It is important to remember that ELO has had recordings released by various labels throughout their career. So while Sony has rights to certain portions of their catalog, they do not own all of it.

Easily verified, just Google What record label is ELO on .

Then check the Rhino artists.

In Europe I think the first 3 ELO are Harvest. In North America it's all Sony.

If you look at their catalog on Apple Music, you will see that every one of ELO's studio albums (other than their half of the Xanadu soundtrack) is currently distributed by Sony. At least for the USA. Not sure who holds the rights to the ELO catalog in other parts of the world.

I'm at a loss. Yes it's true Jeff is not a Rhino artist as he signed with Columbia/Sony in 2015 for a new LP. Where does that leave the Harvest/EMI/Warner back catalog?
Perhaps Rhino import. LOL Where's a Dutton when you need him?

Wikipedia
Through its ownership of the former Columbia/EMI catalogue, Parlophone Records' new owner Warner Music Group assumed Columbia's artist roster and catalogue. New reissues bear the Parlophone imprint. Columbia's reissues, and by extension, those from HMV's popular genres, are distributed by WMG's Rhino Entertainment in the United States.

Sounds like one BIG happy family.

I sure got us into the weeds on this. I found out streaming has it's own licensing agreements. So I wouldn't be surprised to find it's under Warner elsewhere. LOL

Dec 2013
Warner Music Russia and Sony Music Entertainment Russia recently signed a three year licensing agreement. Warner will import, manufacture, and distribute Sony’s catalog of physical releases in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan — including releases on the Columbia and Epic imprints. Sony will continue to handle everything else, such as digital and development. Prior to this deal, distribution was handled by Russian company CP Digital, which has significantly less reach.

The distribution agreements of ELO's early records in different territories involved various record labels, which is a common occurrence in the music industry.

Where does that leave Rhino on reissues? No clue but I'm pretty sure they can make a deal if it's profitable to both.

Imagine SQ Quadios. I heard they exist on CD's that were mastered from the SQ masters. Not remastered CDs. Just have to run them thru a decoder. Does anyone know of a list of these?

Have a look for single inventory Quad encoded LP/Tape releases, if they are then released on CD they will still be Quad encoded.
