While ForagingRhino Quadios, do they have to be in the quad era?

If not and a clue for next release is a Rhino-licensed electronic, Then, Vangelis, one of the kings of electronic music.

Blade Runner was mixed in Quadraphonic

OR perhaps The Collection as an ATMOS/QUAD Blu-ray!!!! I can hear everybody jumping for joy :)

If they have to be quad era then I'm ForagingRhino with whats left in the WB-licensed Quadio archives with a Crash! Bang! Boom! :(
Typically, Quadios are albums that were mixed for quad back in the 70s. Most have already been released in some form or another, but there are a few that were mixed and never released. The Atmos stuff is not a Quadio (although the Carly Simon one has both the original quad plus an Atmos mix)

True. I think my latest quad LP was made in 1976. Some artists like Vangelis continued to mix quad years after it ended till he moved to surround. Carly edition of The Collection? I would LOVE that!!

So if we assume Quadio stands for quad era recordings, where does that leave us? More re-rereleases of WB licensed existing Quadios like the Doobie Brothers? Even if Rhino was able to acquire licenses for all the quad era releases it's still a finite list. If we assume electronic is a clue then what's left on the list?

I got it. Tomita 1975 pop spectular from the King Biscuit Flower Hour that was encoded in SQ :) Do they have a license for those?
Looks like 5.1 Entertainment Group (Silverline) did.

I am informed by previous posts here that King Biscuit many masters were lost in a fire. But the BBC issued numerous concerts in quad and probably survive in their archives.

Did everybody see this headline?

Hundreds of your Warner Bros DVDs probably don’t work anymore

Due to the way WB manufactured their DVDs, virtually all discs pressed between 2006-8 are unplayable now.
DVD discs put out by WB in this period are basically expensive coasters.

I can see Quadio re-rereleases in the future.
Jackson Browne - Running on Empty DVD 2005?
Aretha Franklin's Greatest Hits DVD 2010?
We want these on Blu-ray anyway. Rhino make it happen. What about their DVD Audio 5.1 titles, Expensive coasters?

🤷‍♂️ With this I forgot about the ultimate crappy format. What about Warner 5.1 DualDiscs? Not Quadios but it would be nice to have cheap Carly treatment on these. I pretty much have all the 5.1 mixes that are exclusive to this format. Small list. The only one I can think of by Rhino/Warner is

Talking Heads The soon to be Bricked box set made by Rhino. They are marbleizing those right? To max profits?

Anyway, I've done enough talking. Give me those likes. LOL Cars & Prince March 5th?

I'm going to have to try my Browne and Franklin DVDs today. I really hope this isn't correct. 🙏

I wouldn't worry about this really, Warner Bros. films and Warner Music are two entirely separate companies, and Warner Music (un)fortunately barely released any surround on DVD during those (supposedly) affected years. Bear in mind too that this is just one random guy on the internet saying all his DVDs don't play - people here (collectively) play their DVD-As and other surround discs often enough that if there were widespread playback problems, like with the "Crest Cracker" SACDs for example, we would've heard about it by now.

I've yet to experience any problems with my Warner DVD , DVDA , Dualdisc and Bluray.

There was a report of some disc rot on a Doors DVDA , and the Bluray on EMI/Chrysalis of Jethro Tull Aqualung , and I have verified mine to be in excellent condition.
The same can be said of all my Dualdisc DVDA of The Talking Heads , all eight of them .

So not a single Warner disc I own have any problems with play back in any surround format.

I just ripped my Jackson Brown - "Running on Empty" DVD last week, it had been on the shelf for years.
No issues.

Thank God. It's good to hear about no problems. I just can't get that Goo Goo Dolls song out of my head.

"When everything's made to be broken"

and to be upgraded. DTS CD 16-bit 48kHz -> DVD Audio & DualDisc -> SACD & Blu-Ray 5.1 lossless -> Blu-Ray ATMOS -> 32-bit 384kHz Eclipsa Audio

It comes to a point in one's life when one's hearing isn't as good as it used to be, and one has purchased Pink Floyd marbles so many times one has lost count, one just says...

Guess I'm stuck in the 70s set on the Carousel of Progress. Too bad it's been upgraded :(

"There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow
And tomorrow's just a dream away"

I want new old shit man because tomorrow's dream sucks. Long live Quadio and new ATMOS mixes of yesterday.

Agreed with a caveat...I do appreciate our forum members when they share information that DOES pertain to our hobby and passion of ALL things immersive/surround/Quad and that includes issues such as "rot" specifically and "defects" in general. As a former marketing analyst and sales planner, I look at single source information with a slight degree of skeptaski
