RIP.
Slowly suffocating from terminal idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, he was probably ready to let his spirit fly.

He leaves behind a great body of recorded work and performance.
I was fortunate to see him live a couple of times, once leading the Masters of Rhythm project, and in a duet concert with a santoor player.
He always seemed enthusiastic to collaborate with a wide range of musicians.

Also blessed to see his father Ustad Allah Rakha in a concert hall with Ravi Shankar.

Always liked his stuff with John McLaughlin... was fortunate to see him play a few years back with Dave Holland.
