This is my two channel setup at home. The little space when the condo was built was originally a wet bar with sink that someone had converted into just a little cabinet/nook. The two small tape decks were there just for the picture I think but they did get use. I have changed it up a bit since this picture so it is not so crowded with gear.

I have replaced the Sharp turntable with another linear tracker. A Kenwood that stands up and the motorized door opens outward. The Revox cassette was replaced with a deck that I spent over a decade searching out.....the Marantz SD-930. You can pretty much throw any old tape at that deck and it will sound good. It is not as pretty as the Revox but oh well.

I remember when that tuner was new and how badly I drooled over wanting to buy one.
Marantz made absolutely the sexiest looking gear back in the day.
I bought a 2270 receiver and 2440 quadradial adapter new with the wedding money to my first wife.
She got it all in the divorce.

Love this picture! Years ago, before I met my wife, I put up a free ad at the Safeway looking to buy old electronics. It was a very ritzy area so I figured that someone might just want to unload some stuff without knowing or caring about value. I was right.....in about a week a lady called and she was trying to get rid of her husbands stereo gear who had died some 10 years previous. He had a full mid 70’s Marantz setup like this with big Marantz speakers and even the TT with all of the original boxes. He also had a full ADS system but I was more interested in the Marantz stuff. We made a deal on the stuff and she called the following week to say that he also had a Marantz reel to reel. I knew that Marantz never made one but my interest was piqued. I kind of had been thinking of her over the weekend but didn’t want to come off as some kind of perv and I lost her number anyway so I let it go. Well I think it was mutual and let’s just say that the deal turned out to be advantageous in more ways than one.

Sounds hoity toity, doity.

My story is very similar. I bought a 2270 new, then some time later I bought a 2440 with remote that were both floor models. I lost all of it, including speakers and TT in a home robbery.

Sounds like an ill fated combo of equipment.

I lost a 1975 Martin D18 guitar to a home robbery in the late seventies. The thieves smartly stole the guitar and left the case so it took a few days for me to find out that it was missing. Interestingly, they didn’t bother with my Guild 12 string. The Martin, even more sadly, was my first good guitar. I think I paid $500 for it new.

Good eye, hard to imagine many people looking designs over, quality control inspections, all not catching something like this.

Here's some pics of my odd assortment of surround set-ups. Akai CR-80D-SS, Harman Kardon 900+, four three-way 15" CerwinVega speakers. 18' left to right. 26' front to rear. Same speakers in rear.
5.2 system is Sony 800X player, Sony STR-DH590 receiver, four CV E712 speakers, CV center speaker, 12" and 10" Sony subs.
Not audiophile but plenty of *space" for the music.

I also have an upstairs music room. Very handy! LolA Sony CD player, Akai CR-80D-SS deck into Harman Kardon AVR 154 with 4 Sony SS-B3000 speakers.5.1 system is newer Sony X800, Onkyo TX-XR 333 receiver, four Polk T15 speakers, a Yamaha center and Yamaha sub. This is some of my music collection. Sold most of my vinyl because I had found those titles on CD etc. Kept lps I couldn't find.
Really appreciate this QQ and the opportunity for us to share this very enjoyable hobby.

I've always been "smitten" by the Marantz "blue lights"..and the McIntosh gear...geeze....that's like porn to me....I wouldn't even have to hear it...just the visuals

Super impressive and beyond drool worthy! So many amps, receivers, sound processors and turntables, oh my! And let’s not forget the partially hidden Klipsch speakers and the ESP and Epiphone Goldtop Les Pauls! How much work does it take to keep all that gear in good working order?

Yep, I see a now fairly rare Belle Klipsch there.
I wanted a pair back in 1978 but had to settle for a la scala's in raw birch plywood.
They were so much cheaper then, a hell of deal
I wish a few other top speaker builders today would offer some stuff in just plain black paint
and skip the cost of top furniture grade finishes.

I am fortunate to be in metro Atlanta. I have two master technicians who do all the restoration work on my gear.

Nice glass tops on the Belle's. I had a set made for my LaScalas after I finished them.

Regarding those older speakers, AR9’s etc, did your techs refurbish the electronics as well? I redid all of the capacitors and resistors in all of my speakers. Those old NPE capacitors became problematic.
