Well....I wasn't commenting on any one else's wiring struggles, to be clear. Just my own mess.
Onkyo seems to be leading the way with installing Dirac software in their receivers. That said, the Dirac Live Bass Control component is not included and requires an extra licensing fee for the RZ70. Still cheaper than Denon or Marantz if you want Dirac...

Dirac Live Bass Control component is extra. The Onkyo TX-RZ70 comes with built-in Dirac Live Room Correction Full Bandwidth. Dirac Live Bass Control is to improve the subwoofers. Personally I do not care for this extra

There is a newer addition to Dirac for Onkyo and other AVR's for bass control, at no additional charge. Seems like Onkyo/Dirac haven't worked the bugs out yet from what I read on AVSForum.
The AVR's that include Dirac Live includes this bass control: the paid version covers multiple subs. Which is useless for me as both sub ouputs are tied together.
@GOS Dirac Live is NOT simply bass control. I do all my room calibrations of all speakers with Dirac Live, using the pc app, although their is a phone app of much lesser capability.

Oh, OK. Should have done my homework. At some point here in the next 6 months, I'll be looking for a new AVR, so this topic is relevant.
What I should add is that on The RZ50 both sub outs are tied together. Not sure what they did with the newer RZ30 and RZ70, but what from little I've read the dual sub outs are separately controlled.
But, for me, paying additional costs are unwarranted, and I only have one sub anyway at this time.

I didn't get started until about noon, but I was able to replace the corroded RCA connectors on my Marantz CD400 with gold-plated ones. Ain't they purty? All shiny and sparkly.
They are mounted on three Bakelite pieces, and the originals were installed as rivets. Which meant they were a real bear to get out without cracking that old plasticky stuff. But I got them out and replaced. No more worries about corroded contacts with this baby. I also replaced the screws that hold the Bakelite pieces with locking hardware instead of a staking compound like they had.
I've got a few days with other stuff that needs to be done (like running that new HDMI cable and installing two new ceiling light fixtures), so it'll probably be Wednesday or Thursday before I can get started on recapping this little critter.
I'm also going to have to rig up a couple of wooden blocks to go on either side of my Esoteric Surface Noise Reducer. It has a full-width front panel (I cut the rack mount holes off but kept all the graphics) but the unit itself is only about half that size, with the power cord coming out one side. Since I'm going to be stacking up several pieces of gear on top of it, I'll need to make a stable base for them. And the woodshop is in my unheated garage. It's not a big job, but it'll be at least an hour out there.

The TV I dug out and moved to the audio room turned out to NOT be 4K.
Maybe next year I can pick up a smaller one (but bigger than current) to replace my 28" 4K monitor, which has to have 4K passed on the DP cable instead of via HDMI. In the space I have probably a 43 inch is about as big as I can go without going through major pain, but it would be fairly close to the MLP.
So currently audio from pc > AVR via HDMI & video from pc > Monitor via DP. Messed up. lol.

Dirac...as good as it sounds it seems to be a bit of a swamp for the average consumer...confusing acronyms, licensing fees...just put it into the AVR, give it a model suffix, charge a higher price...anyway I did find this over on the AVS forum. Lots of people talking Dirac over there:

The measurements require a degree of low/no background noise. Otherwise I can do a 9 point calibration in about an hour.
What trips people up sometimes is getting the main and mic gains set up right.
Otherwise you just click on each speaker, let it produce pink noise. It will display the output level in dB.
Once all speakers have been run, then you set all speaker gains to the level of the quitest speaker. Then raise the main gain up 10-15dB or whatever acommodates your system so that all speakers are matched in gain but are loud enough to continue calibrations.
The you move on and select between different types of sitting arrangements: tightly focused, and several larger areas to choose from.
At each mic placement the software will run sweeps and note each speaker's response.
At that point you move on to filter design, where if you want to make any adjustments you can; or merely accept what Dirac produces.
Then the filter or filters can be exported to the AVR.
That's sort of it in a nutshell, and there are plenty of tutorials out there.
Highly recommend using a decent mic that comes with a 90* calibration file, which you can load into Dirac app at the beginning.
Otherwise using the puck mic's and phone apps are functional but not as good.
