The beta testers received DVD-A discs to test, so DVD-A is going to available somewhere, I would assume in the box. Neil will have to chime in to verify, but I can assure you there will be a real DVD-A somewhere. There was also a DVD-V with TV appearances and stuff on it. So these must have been targeted for the deluxe box set shown above
That's a sweet gig being a beta tester. Some guys have all the luck! :phones

The thing you all have to keep in mind is that people like Steven Wilson and Neil Wilkes are the good guys. They create and produce the 5.1 mix, which is the important part. They have no control at all what happens to that product once it is completed.

I would wager that if you asked Steven, and I know that if you asked Neil, they would want these mixes out to the public in a stand alone or CD+ package without a huge price tag if it were up to them.

When a title like the EL&P is relegated to an expensive box set, it only means that fewer people will get to hear the results of their work.

I have not heard from Neil how the Tears for Fears surround mix will be released, in what format and what retail options. Funny thing is, they may not even know yet. All I can say is that the 5.1 mix is killer on the DVD-A that I tested, and I am sure that whoever purchases it, no matter what the retail option, will be pleased and glad they got the recording.

As for scarves, marbles, booklets, posters, and anything else that may come with it, well, that's a totally different story! :)

If a DVD-A has been tested, then DVD-A will be available somewhere (probably in the bigger box set), with a HFPA Blu-Ray also in the box and/or as a standalone release.
Regardless it's nice to see yet another artist added to Steven Wilson's surround repertoire, one that could even further boost the amount of releases and sales, cause after all, that's what really matters! :)

That and do they really test anything anyway? Recently made dvd-audio releases don't play on my machine at all.

I will tell you that DVD-A discs, by me alone, are tested in at least 3 decks and more often 4. And that's just me.

This comment disgusts me.
Yes, they actually test the discs. There are only a limited amount of players amongst the testers compared to what's out there on the market, so they at least check to make sure the discs work in their players, that menus and navigation are good, that audio and video are fine (no dropouts, glitches, etc) so that way they (along with Neil W) can therefore assume that it's a good disc that will play in almost any DVDA or Blu-Ray player.
Even still it's not always possible that a disc will play perfectly in every player, especially depending on the firmware in use.

I'm sorry recent discs have not worked their best for you in your players but don't drag the testers down with you in your negativity. They are doing us a great service by making sure these discs are ready for market, and for most everyone, the discs play fine with no problems.
Neil and others can help you, but they won't if you continue to be so negative...

Those three links to the three Amazon 2 disc versions should be removed ( or posted edited). In the excitement of seeing those I mistakenly ordered one thinking it was the 5.1 release. Luckily I read more here and I've now cancelled the order.

I wonder if Burning Shed will sell the DVD-A and/or BD-A? (They seem to sell call SW mixes)

BD-A is on Amazon France:

Here is the Amazon France listing:

This number from the page above is searchable on other Amazon sites. So far nothing shows up but that could change.
ASIN : B00NMPSQUQ

The thing to remember with Amazon is you don't get billed until the item ships. As long as your order has not shipped you can cancel. Just go to Your Orders and click Cancel. So with this particular release you've got all of October to change your mind if you pre-order.

Snood starting to buy from BullMoose a lot - just cancelled 4 orders on Amazon even with Prime..........reordered on Bullmoose saved like 15 to 17 bux

Snood gets charged taxes on Amazon now since they opened a warehouse in Florida........laws :howl

Also they do not charge card til it goes out

but..........kinda confused on thought this, thought this was a sure thing on 5.1 bluray now it's a maybe??@:

Oh forgot to mention free shipping on Bullmoose if order is 25 bux or over..............and no Snood no worky for Bull........in fact only ordered like 4 times from them , but they been great

A little disappointed, I was expecting The Seeds Of Love....Can't ask enough for Steven Wilson to mix that album in 5.1, I'm sure it would be THE ALBUM!!

The Amazon France page's track listing seems to suggest both stereo and 5.1 mixes in as much as it shows the album track listing twice.

cool cool...i love hearing more support for the Moose!

i've only ordered (so far) 4 times but they ship pre orders before anyone else...usually lowest price or close enough where i'd rather give them the biz...small enough to give exceptional personable customer service....just wish i would have found them sooner!!!

If a 5.1 mix of 'Roxy Music' exists, all we can do is be patient and hope it eventually sees the light of day.

I don't think any 5.1 Roxy Music or Bryan Ferry mixes exist that weren't released but the ones that exist (on SACD, notably Avalon and Boys & Girls) are great and the others could be made. Looking forward to any, and especially to 'Bête Noire'.

Not disappointed, but Steven Wilson remastering The Seeds Of Love in 5.1 would make my year. Heck, the title track alone would be worth it. Utter brilliance.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned anything about "The Working Hour" yet.
Not only is it THE standout track on the album for me, but it's also become one of my favorite songs of the entire 1980s! It's THAT good!
If it sounds half as good in surround as it does in stereo, then I can't say "Shut up and take my money" fast enough! :)

Funny, for me that track would be 'Head over Heels' but I think what my favourite track of the album is has actually changed over the years.

OK, people really need to learn when to use the word REMIXING as opposed to REMASTERING.
What Steven Wilson does is REMIXING, and most of his recent mixes do not even have any mastering on them at all!

There's a fundamental difference between the two processes, and I mostly blame the labels for the confusion that people have when mixing up the two terms. They are the ones that have used the term REMASTERING to death when pushing crappy reissues of the same CDs over and over again.
