Well regardless, if Kal likes it, I'll have to order one and continue my education in classical music
Pupster , you can start by taking up classical trumpet and practicing 10 hours a day...........

Note. That is a "Prof." Johnson 24-bit HDCD recording and, therefore, not from the new "fresh" series created by SoundMirror.I just received their newly released The Planets [with The Perfect Fool] and can attest to their brilliance!
That's not RR's website. Where is it from?I don't know Kal, it looks to me like they've got it listed in the wrong category on their web page; or am I not reading this correctly?
Sorry for the confusion. That's not RR's website. Where is it from?
I put in a customer review for this on their web site; and they apparently just don't get itSorry for the confusion.
It's from Acoustic Sounds' web site; I'll be sure to phone them and let them know to change the location to multi-channel. I looked and didn't see a contact e-mail address for their web site.
I have a real pet peeve about theses web sites that take little care in the representation of surround titles; and Acoustic Sounds should know better.
Amazon is one of the worst offenders of this as evidenced by their recent Stormwatch debacle.
Cheers
Channel's records are among if not the best engineered recordings being made today. A few suggestions for people who aren't classical aficionados:Channel Classics is having a sale on 50 RBCD and SACD multichannel Discs at sale prices between €4,95 and €5,99. Shipping: €3,50 Benelux Countries/€8,50 rest of the world...irregardless of how many discs are in order.

Channel records in high bit-rate DSD, I'm pretty sure NativeDSD is a Channel product (although they of course sell others). For myself I've always been perfectly happy with DSD64, but to each their own.Considering their download prices for DSD 64 are €23.31 per download, I think this sale represents a major coup and if I'm not mistaken, Channel still records in PCM 5.0 Digital. My order was shipped yesterday and I look forward to hours upon hours of musical bliss upon their arrival.
I was even shocked they allowed a further 10% discount .... even on these drastically reduced sale items....but if your order is over €50 they will honor the discount.
Am currently listening to my latest batch of Dutton Epoch QUAD SACDs [specifically the awesome Ormandy/Philadelphia Orchestra Shostakovich 5th] and can report they're all magnifico. How Columbia with their pithy SQ matrix system could expect their vinyl or Q8 cartridges to capture these performances in those configurations is mind boggling. D~V has finally freed these master recordings from Matrix/Q8 3 3/4 ips HELL!
Hoping my order from DV arrives tomorrow - ordered everything. Not sure which I'm most excited for.
Ditto. I'm impressed that you refrained from expressing your bitter jealousy of Ralph for having gotten his new stash of D-Vs already...
I'm good at overbooking myself and distracting myself from such things. Plus I was travelling and didn't see the announcement right away (you'll notice I didn't post in the announcement thread until a few days later), so my order is going to take a little longer.Ditto. This is my general go-to demo, the Souvenir de Florence in particular is ear candy:Having watched the most recent episode of edisonbaggins' "Life in Surround", I visited the 2L label page on Discogs to see what they have available, and there's a ton of music! Can anyone recommend releases by 2L that have great surround AND music that the average non-classical listener might find enjoyable? (When I look at classical music listings, I have no idea who or what I'm looking for, but if I'm familiar with the music from a movie or cartoon, that's usually a good place to start, lol)
