I have a real pet peeve about theses web sites that take little care in the representation of surround titles; and Acoustic Sounds should know better.
Amazon is one of the worst offenders of this as evidenced by their recent Stormwatch debacle.

The supposed story of the unfortunate Alkan's macabre (but somehow impossible to not find tragically funny) death was I thought long since debunked, so I was surprised to see this reference on the France Musique website -
"Though an erroneous and persistent legend claims that the composer was crushed by a bookcase as he reached for his copy of the Talmud, it was later confirmed in a letter by one of his students that the composer was found trapped and crushed by a particularly heavy umbrella stand on 29 March 1888. His concierge eventually heard his painful moans, but it was too late and the composer died later that evening. "

Considering their download prices for DSD 64 are €23.31 per download, I think this sale represents a major coup and if I'm not mistaken, Channel still records in PCM 5.0 Digital. My order was shipped yesterday and I look forward to hours upon hours of musical bliss upon their arrival.
I was even shocked they allowed a further 10% discount .... even on these drastically reduced sale items....but if your order is over €50 they will honor the discount.
Am currently listening to my latest batch of Dutton Epoch QUAD SACDs [specifically the awesome Ormandy/Philadelphia Orchestra Shostakovich 5th] and can report they're all magnifico. How Columbia with their pithy SQ matrix system could expect their vinyl or Q8 cartridges to capture these performances in those configurations is mind boggling. D~V has finally freed these master recordings from Matrix/Q8 3 3/4 ips HELL!

Humprof, since I did purchase 16 RBCDs [including one freebie] from D~V for between £.99 and £1.99 I decided to have everything shipped PRIORITY mail [at, IMO, a king's ransom]. The SACDs and 4 RBCDs were included in my first shipment and I'm still awaiting my second shipment [12 RBCDs].
I NEVER specify priority mail and will probably never utilize that again unless I'm desperate. My orders shipped regular mail from D~V on the average took between 4 to 6 weeks.
Could NOT believe Channel shipped all those SACDs[16] from the Netherlands for €8.50! D~V charges £12 for the first disc shipped via Priority!!!!!!!!!! And £1.50 PER DISC thereafter. Do the Math?
My order of SaCD from Channel Classics got here (St.Louis ) very promptly. Not discernibly different from a domestic schipment.
I also enjoyed perusing Dutton Vocalion's clearance offerings for $1.23 plus schipping. I guess they don't want them sitting in the wherehouse.

I'm good at overbooking myself and distracting myself from such things. Plus I was travelling and didn't see the announcement right away (you'll notice I didn't post in the announcement thread until a few days later), so my order is going to take a little longer.

Not to rub it in but you will LOVE the latest batch of Epoch SACDs, ubertrout. I just finished listening to the Carmina Burana and it's discrete and oh so wonderful. Lovely amount of bass as well. Hopefully, D~V will continue releasing these treasures and I encourage anyone with even a modicum of love for the classical repertoire to investigate these QUAD reissues.
Of the 21 discs received from D~V, I am happy to report ......NOT a cracked case in the bunch.
Having watched the most recent episode of edisonbaggins' "Life in Surround", I visited the 2L label page on Discogs to see what they have available, and there's a ton of music! Can anyone recommend releases by 2L that have great surround AND music that the average non-classical listener might find enjoyable? (When I look at classical music listings, I have no idea who or what I'm looking for, but if I'm familiar with the music from a movie or cartoon, that's usually a good place to start, lol)

Discs with more familiar titles--or at least more familiar composers--include Northern Timbre (violin sonatas by Grieg, Sibelius, and Nielsen), the Oslo String Quartet's Minor Major (Beethoven & Schubert) and Trondheim Solistene's Reflections (Britten, Vaughan Williams, Stravinsky). But where 2L really shines is recording choral music. Lindberg long ago figured out how to use microphone placement and the characteristics of a particular room to approximate 3-D "object-placement," even before he began mixing in Atmos and Auro 3-D, and that really shows in the label's vocal ensemble titles. I'm just mesmerised by Tomba sonora by the group Stemmeklang; it was recorded in a mausoleum with amazing acoustics, and the disc replicates that in your listening room. I don't ordinarily go for anything that might show up on "Music from the Hearts of Space," but I'll make an exception for this one. Ditto for Lux and Ljos, which take the same approach to Nordic folksong (the latter title is winter-themed, so in the Northern hemisphere it makes a good holiday disc).
I think there's a thread somewhere about Kleiberg's Mass for the Modern Man, the title that Mike discusses. My recommendation for a 2L gateway disc: Tomba sonora. You can score most of these titles on Amazon or Presto Classical, or download them (not the Atmos or Auro mixes) from NativeDSD.
